You are technically correct. The best kind of correct.

No, but the ship's universal translator converts my meows into text so that I can post on Lemmy.

It was wildly difficult to set up, but the captain signed off on it after Geordi mumbled something about "federation" to him.

You were supposed to say "Meow" and then I was gonna post the picture of Homer saying "Damn straight".

Data uses contractions constantly. Even in the very episode where Lore's supposed ability to use contractions when Data cannot, Data does, in fact, use contractions.

That is indeed a very sexy and interesting piece of Data (wink wink, nudge nudge)

What's the Lore of this picture? And why is the Hugh of his skin...off?

25
lemm.ee

ah leave em alone. or explain it. "haha you dont know the thing I know" never did much for anyone really..

17

I'm very ok with leaving that behind. It was pompous and unhelpful. But you can pry the puns from my cold dead hands!

6

Leave it behind. It fosters an environment that ridicules people trying to fill in information. I always found that subreddit toxic af.

If they only whooshed uppity bastards it would maybe have been ok but it's more of a "huehue guys look he's not getting this obscure in-joke, guys. upvote's to the left".

lemm.ee

He's an android from an old TV show. His name is Data and the skin tone is meant to given him an inhuman quality.

1

Why contain it? Let it spill over into the schools and churches, let the bodies pile up in the streets. In the end, they'll beg us to save them.

So we’re just stealing the top posts of all time from Reddit now?

I made this because I'm a trekker and saw the community pop up in all. But just out of curiosity I went and looked at the top 100 of all time for reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful and my favorite android is not in it so not sure what you mean.

Sort by top of all time. It should still be there

You’re right. I wonder if it was from one of the old Redditors who quit and deleted their posts. I scrolled through top of all time for a bit and couldn’t find it. gross I can’t believe I went back to that place

I can't believe you accused me of stealing without even having the decency to railroad me at a trial like Bruce Maddox does.

IIRC it was an April Fool's joke, where for one day everyone posted pictures of Data.

lol. Who did you piss off to get 9 downvotes in 6 minutes for this harmless comment?

7

No idea. Someone in lemmy seem to have a grudge against me and seem to have set up bots to downvote my posts. They are not counted by kbin though, so I am alright. Let them have their fun lol

They're right to do so. This OP posted in the wrong group.

I know I'm jumping to another universe but when you died I ugly-cried for 10 minutes at minimum.

It's ok. Phendorana and I are hanging out on the spiritual plane with Venli Eshonai.

She did not. I'm just a lowly bridgeman who confused her for her sister.

@teft

Eshonai’s death truly shocked me.

Your death saddened me but I can’t say it surprised me.

Your death saddened me but I can’t say it surprised me.

I hope you can join me in a hearty round of "Fuck Moash".

That whole Sander-lanche was aa fucking rollercoaster. The (being intentionally vague to avoid spoilers) bit-while-falling, the line ending in "you removed" - so many feelings!

Ever seen "Trekkies"? It's a pretty good documentary about the Star Trek fandom. I distinctly recall there was a woman who was obsessed with Brent Spiner. If I recall correctly she had a photo album just filled with pictures off him from conventions and could see his house from her balcony so she would go out there for "Spiner breaks".

Anyway this reminded me of her. Still who can blame her? He's awesome!

This community isn't related to Star Trek. It's about visualizations of scientific data.

lemmy.world

All things science are related to Star Trek In some way or another. Many people in science say they were inspired to pursue science as a career because they were inspired by ST. Nichelle Nichols was an ambassador for NASA, and personally inspired minorities and women to pursue science.

So, data and ST will always be related, because if it weren't for ST, a lot of that data wouldn't even exist, because the people who created that data may never have gotten into STEM careers.

Delving into the vast universe of fictional narratives, particularly within the intricate web of "Star Trek: The Next Generation," one might find oneself particularly drawn to the character of Data. You see, Data embodies a synthesis of profound intelligence and strength, both of which are characteristics deeply rooted in the human aspiration for self-improvement and understanding. When an individual resonates with Data, it's not merely a matter of enjoying a character on a television screen. Instead, it can be seen as a reflection of one's own inner aspirations, a manifestation of the desire to merge the unyielding strength of character with a boundless quest for knowledge. To see oneself in Data is to engage in a profound dialogue with the self, recognizing the parallels between one's own capacities and the admirable qualities of this android being. It's a testament to the enduring power of storytelling and the ways in which characters can mirror our deepest ambitions and self-perceptions. It becomes a journey of self-reflection, intertwining the realms of fiction with our personal narratives.

No, it's about visualizations of scientific data. You're looking for a Star Trek community.
