Impressive to be able to say all this with Intuit's cock in one's mouth.

The words came from the dick. It's just that technically the words did come out of his mouth.

Fuck. I used it for the first time last year and it was incredibly easy. Now I have to go back to being charged by TurboTax for something that should be automatic and free.

I believe it's $15 for state filing but free otherwise. Even this free IRS program would have you file state taxes separately.

I used CreditKarma the entire time they offered their program and tried CashApp after they bought it from CK. I believe it's still completely free but the process is annoying as you have to at least partially use the CashApp app on your phone to log in.

Federal is free, state is reasonably cheap.

One thing I didn’t mention, TurboTax has forgotten our historical tax information twice. That’s when we finally kicked them to the curb. Freetaxusa has been solid and quicker to use. Plus a few Intuit. Oh and ban lobbying already.

8

OVER HALF the States have the software already installed to be able to provide FREE state filing DIRECTLY on their websites...but can't because they're trapped in a contract with Intuit/The "Free-File" Alliance

2

If you're owed a refund, it'll be your problem as they fired most of their state and it'll take 3 months to process

it was not created for his convenience but ours, but that doesn't matter i guess

The whole fucking thing is scam so turbo tax and others can suck money out of people

He looks like the epitome of the typical corpulent Republican fuck.

We're at the point in wealth concentration where you can just look at someone and tell when they think poor people should be slaves. He looks like the Monopoly Man.

If you are a w2 worker, your shit is basically automated. They'll process your w2 file and then automatically send you the bill.

Taxes are generally already withheld, not filing generally means you won't get your refund...

Seems like a good time to stop paying taxes.

Wouldn't that be a cool boycott against this administration? No taxation without representation as they used to say...

“You’ve heard of Direct File, that’s gone,” Long said. “Big beautiful Billy wiped that out. I don’t care about Direct File. I care about direct audit.”

Jesus i thought he was calling himself "big beautiful Billy" in the 3rd person the way they used their capitulation in that quote lol

Billy Long, President Trump’s nominee to lead the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), is under increased scrutiny following disclosures that he used recent campaign donations to repay a personal loan from his unsuccessful 2022 Senate campaign.

https://ifindtaxpro.com/tax-blog/trumps-irs-nominee-billy-long-faces-scrutiny-over-campaign-funds-and-donor-ties/

President Donald Trump’s choice for Internal Revenue Service (IRS) director just had his six-figure debt paid off by campaign donors whose firms have significant, often contentious business before the tax agency he would lead, according to federal records reviewed by the Lever.

In new campaign finance filings, Long disclosed an outstanding personal loan of $130,000 that he had made to his failed 2022 US Senate campaign. The dormant Senate campaign committee had raised less than $36,000 in the last two years, which could have forced Long to absorb the losses on the loan.

But after Trump named Long to head the IRS, the committee suddenly raked in nearly $137,000 in less than three weeks in January — money that Long then used to remunerate himself, according to disclosure documents filed this week.

At least one-third of the money came from donors working at firms in the tax consultancy industry or involved in major tax-related legal battles.

Note that last one, and how Long is moving budget from free filing to auditing support.

I don't know any EU country, that doesn't do the taxes for their employed citizens. You normally only need to amend your taxes for stuff outside of your salary. The US truly is not a first world country it seems.

He's not too much more massive than 150kg. I bet we could get at least a 175 m toss with a trebuchet, which should be enough.

No thanks, cannibalism is disgusting. I won't be eating any people as long as planet Earth has plenty of tasty animals that feed primarily on vegetation.

If you meant to suggest that the person should be murdered, just say that instead of suggesting more disgusting things like cannibalism.

With enough seasoning and the right prep he would make good jerky, it would be like the natural evolution of mummy jerky. It's about sending a message, full circle kinda thing.

Almost all taxes are collected from the paycheck before you even get your hands on it. The filing is mostly for the tax return on the overpayment. They've already thought of it. How you gonna stop paying?

18

My 1099 jobs I'm supposed to pay the taxes.

My W2 jobs, I just set allowances to like 20 so at least the bare minimum is being taken out.

Good luck then! Actually curious to see how it will work out.

6

Yeah... I thought about not paying taxes last April but I don't want to draw unwanted attention to myself. Did the IRS have a bunch of people let go? Yes. Does that mean that they don't have enough staff to realize I didn't pay and come after me? Maybe I don't want to find out. I'm self employed through my own LLC and I don't know enough about taxes to do them on my own anymore and I have to pay someone to help me anyway, so the free software wouldn't have helped much. Last April was the first time I had to do this, prior to that I'd been an employee at a company that withheld taxes.

5

Cash it out beforehand then. The bank has no right to keep your money if you want it out.

2

The open-source repository relies on internal APIs at the IRS. It's not really meant to be run by your average John Doe.

6

As can be expected, of someone who has no investment nor interest in the wellbeing of society.

12

Whatever; the IRS website is hot garbage. It's a major PITA to navigate; I was never even able to successfully verify my identity to be able to use it.

Nothing of value was lost.

Good, I used it and now I dont need to worry about being audited for those years LmAO

At this point GOOD. If all of the voters who benefitted from this had:

  1. Shown up, AND
  2. Voted correctly

The rest of us wouldn’t be stuck with this. Let ‘em learn the hard way.

-32
piefed.social

I would love to just let them learn the hard way but I also have to live with it all. Not wild about it.

37

We can either continue to slowly tug at the band-aid for the next 10-20 years or rip it off now and be done with it. I choose the latter.

You fail to understand how many people didn't get a vote out because of voter suppression tactics like voter ID laws, making voting only available in person, limiting drop box locations, limiting voting dates, arresting people for handing out water in long voting lines, etc.

By making voting harder, Republicunts win.
Making it easier lets Democrats and progressives win.

Making it harder also lends credence to the "my vote doesn't count anyway" mentality.

16

I live in Kansas. My vote doesn’t count, yet I still got my ass out and did it anyways. I’m done helping those who won’t help themselves.

Crabs in a pot man, crabs in a pot.

"Boo hoo I didn't get what I want so now I want everyone else to suffer too". That kind of bitterness is a shitty, toxic trait. Acting like that makes it really easy to split the Left because I know I sure as hell don't want to agree with anything you say.

That’s cool, you can go sing cumbaya and fuck right off doing nothing meaningful to fix this.

lemmy.world

It's spelled "kumbaya" dumbass.

And what are you doing other than alienating everyone you talk to? You'd do a better job advocating for the other side tbh. Most people will see your shittiness and switch sides just to not be associated with you. Have you considered becoming Republican? You might single handedly destroy the party with your toxicity.

But let's hear it tough guy. What are you doing besides ranting on social media? Imma go out on a limb and guess from your user name that you were an edgy teenager and now you're a burnt out 30 something? Sad that your life choices didn't work out so well and now you're bitter and take it out on others?

You're a pussy who thinks he's tough behind a keyboard but you're just a bitch.

3

At this point I don’t care if pussy boy “liberals” like yourself are turned off. I’m betting you jumped on that whole “they go low, we go high” bullshit that landed us here. I’ve advocated fight fire with fire for YEARS, but fucking morons like you were too FUCKING STUPID to see this coming and are STILL miles behind the 8-ball on how to fix this. So go circle jerk your other keyboard warrior friends and FUCK OFF until you’re ready to do something that ACTUALLY helps as opposed to your little participation marches that aren’t doing shit.

Oh and keep telling your fucking idiot friends who stayed home that it’s not their fault and everything will be just fine. Because you’re clearly right on that.

-3
lemmy.world

It's too bad the motherfuckers that wanted this shit and the people that sat at home or did a protest vote because the Democrats didn't give them a pretty, pretty pony were the only ones that had to live with their stupid and selfish choices.

They made that choice; they need to FEEL it. Just like the rest of us they fucking screwed.

1

Problem: they're getting what they want. They're perfectly happy to suffer so long as we're worse off. If we're dead, they're happy to be homeless
