It worked in a way. It'll take another week or 2 to break out of the habit of waking up, but I fell immediately back to sleep when I did wake up.

Success.

13 months. Unreal.

aussie.zone

Today has been awful. Which is pretty rare for me to say honestly.

I want to go back to bed and not wake up until tomorrow.

Also we have some newbies to the crew above.

It would be Ted, he's always on the look out for a better family.

Could you be coming down with a plain old fashioned cold? That can really stuff up all the other things, particularly if you haven't had one for a while.

5

Could very well be. I've got a pizza in the oven. Time for a bath, some food and reading in bed till I pass out.

I've made some progress on sorting my sewing room. Unfortunately the shelves I was hoping to use inside the cupboard won't work - the shelves are the right size, but once assembled I won't have room to manoeuvre them in. I have a couple more shelves to assemble and can then start putting more things away.

I'm behind where I would like to be, but I think I can get all the boxes cleared from the lounge room and tidy up the worst of the empty box collection before the rental inspection tomorrow. It is nice having the lounge room more clear and open again, but I need to move all the furniture now that I'm not having to accomodate a wall of boxes.

Not the kind of cupboard you can take the doors off of?

3
Rusty Ravenreply
aussie.zone

No, it's a built in and the framing for the doors reduces the size of the opening slightly. Plus they have gone for the cheapest possible wardrobe insert, which is a single shelf with hanging rail below it, and it has a divider panel in the middle to provide support to the shelf which also reduces the options for what you can put in there.

Want to get away with the wife for a few days, not that familiar with the outskirts of Melbourne. Anyone know any good spots where mushrooms might still be in season? Is mount Dandenong any good for that?

8

Look up Trentham and Mount Macedon. It's a bit late in the season for those kind of mushrooms, but you might get lucky. Nice bushwalking though.

Well that backfired.

I reduced my anti dep dose and did in fact get somewhat better sleep. Except today I feel like utter shit.

Will try this again on the weekend and see what happens.

forced proximity to strangers can be stressful

5

Yeah, that'd definitely do it. The times I've been stressed out on long PT trips (excluding delays, bad weather, external factors), it's often been because of the others on the bus or train and my own often subconscious tension/discomfort

I'm sorry Melbourne :(

A butcher should be an authority on such topics, so you picked a hard opponent

3

Fuck me carpet glue is nasty stuff. They should not be allowed to use it in a building while it is open.

Im close to a food coma at the moment, have to go back to work tomorrow though.

I tried to put on my boots and it wasnโ€™t easy and Im not even sure I could walk with them on with my toe still swollen and very uncomfortable.

6
Duenanreply
aussie.zone

Nope, didnโ€™t have any x-ray, doctor didnโ€™t seem to think I needed one.

4
aussie.zone

Regardless of whether you broke it or not, just immobilising it by taping it to the toe next to it would help. If it is broken, moving it around will impede its healing.

Drs won't do too much for a broken toe unless it's the big toe. 99% sure I broke mine stubbing it against the camphor chest I have, but I just taped it to the toe next to it for a few weeks/months, and it healed okay (there's still a bump either side but it works lol).

This is just my anecdotal experience.

6

Ah ok. Just dealing also with a lifted toenail issue. Only a minor and small one apparently so Iโ€™ve had to put dressing on.

Think part of the dressing is too fat as well because of the padding and too long.

I really hope itโ€™s not broke or fractured.

3
MeanElevatorreply
aussie.zone

I guess if you can bend the toe it's probably not broken. Could still be fractured though.

Most likely it's just a bad bump that needs more time to heal.

4
Duenanreply
aussie.zone

I can still bend it. I have the other problem of it healing from lightly lifted toe nail.

Only minor but there was a little bit of a tear.

5

Probably not for work. Think itโ€™s itโ€™s an OHS issue as well.

I also have the problem of only owning boots.

4
aussie.zone

Keep an eye on it for any infection - that can be a problem in fingers and toes, and you need to get onto it quickly

3

I changed my dressing yesterday, it looked ok, no signs of redness, just swollen from what I could see.

I have somehow managed to lose a sewing machine. I know it is here somewhere, but I'm a bit perplexed about where given I brought it up seperately and put it in the sewing room myself.

6

I checked and it turns out I don't have any. Maybe I could make myself some, if I only I had a sewing machine...

The other day I went through bags of baby clothes. They were in vac sealed bags and out of the way but thought it was time to get rid of them. I kept a couple of things and some crochet blankets my sister made.

Now I find out how many bags I can fit in my car and how many attempts to reverse my car out of the yard without hitting the gate.

6

It's not in the driveway, it's in the yard. I think I will reverse it in though on the way back.

In other news, what's your guilty pleasure song?

Mine in Anaconda by Nicki Minaj lol

6
aussie.zone

A song by an artist whom you

  • don't agree with their morals/actions
  • don't like any other song they've released
  • in a genre that you might not listen to a lot

That's just my own definition, really, and the song can meet all or just one of those points. I don't like Nicki as a person, she's awful, and I don't like her other songs. I do listen to the genre though.

I mean, I love Anaconda so much I can sing it off by heart ๐Ÿ˜‚ the music video is hot AF as well

Movie review

The Defiant Ones with Tony Curtis and Sidney Poitier

It's been a very long time since I last watched this Stanley Kramer movie ( I recommend all Kramer movies ) .

I grew up watching post wwii social justice movies, now this comes across to me as a bit too simplistic and maybe we don't need such story telling about racism and bigotry any more

but then maga and russia and palestine, so maybe we need it just as much as we ever did

it's that realism style, few beautiful landscape shots, just people against a gritty background, the beauty is in the developing relationship between the two main characters

I should watch the Defiant Ones. I havenโ€™t seen that one. I watched The Deer Hunter yesterday for the second time. It won 5 academy awards and I canโ€™t figure out why., maybe the US was still grappling with the aftermath of the war in Vietnam and the story touched that nerve. But my god itโ€™s WAY too long. The wedding scene alone is almost an hour long .

4

it's been a very long time since I've seen it

I think it became famous because of the russian roulette scenes, no other reason
