It's interesting how the Expanse started as an idea for an MMORPG, turned into a book, and now it's getting an actual RPG (not MMO hopefully).

It was also a tabletop RPG along the way, I think Leviathan Wakes is pretty much retelling of the campaign the writers ran with their friends.

It's also a tabletop RPG again. Green Ronin made one, based on their Modern AGE ruleset. I believe it's explicitly based on the books and ignores show canon.

I have not gotten to play it and now a new edition is on the way, but I read the book a couple of times. It's really neat and worth the time of you can, unlike me, actually get it to a table.

I'd absolutely love to play it, but I don't know any Expanse fans who'd also want to run it. My own skills as a game master are sorely lacking in the "actually running a game" aspect, even after years of practice. Honestly, I bought the books mostly for design inspiration for my Space Engineers builds.

I run a campaign! It is a lot of fun and I think my players are having a good time. Would 100% recommend playing/gamemastering :)

If it's owlcat I'd totally be willing to assume it'll be a crpg, which would be a solid choice for the universe given its history

Edit: inspired by mass effect could totally be story wise, tbf a complex RPG system w/ mass effect 3/Andromeda combat would probably also be fantastic so we'll have to wait for more info.

An expanse MMO would be pretty cool, but it would need a completely different gameplay model from traditional MMOs.

I haven't interacted with the universe but my husband has and that excites me! He's excited and that's great!

If I can get this for the PC and it's first person, it'll be the first game I've bought in almost a decade.

You reached the end

The Expanse RPG's developers are 'humbled' by comparisons to BioWare's heyday, but don't expect it to be a straight Mass Effect clone: 'We make our story a little bit differently' | Spyke
