There are these plastic twisty things that my wife and I get... I think they're supposed to be for cable management, but we get the thin kind and use them as anti-cat armor for our cables. I won't promise they can't fail, but I do know my furry little idiots haven't ruined a pair of headphones since we've been using them. I'll go look up the link if you want.
