Tl;dr:

The Gwangju Uprising was a series of student-led pro-democratic demonstrations that took place in Korea in 1980. These protests are known to have been violently suppressed by the military, resulting in a massacre of civilians, but the mod depicted protesters as armed and violent criminals (according to YNA), thus framing the military regime’s brutality as justified.

This mod maker's next project will be showing how peaceful the Jan 6th riot was.

Followed closely by how grocery man was threatening the tank with a baguette in Tiananmen Square.

What a fucking cunt.

That made me curious. Firefox + Ublock Origin just a wall of text in a pop-up. I hit the X and it didn't bother me further.

To this day, I'm at a loss to explain why people go piddling around in this festering pool of our modern Internet® without a fucking condom (much less: bleach, flamethrowers, etc.)

Love Valve and I know nothing about these events but I'm not a fan of removing something like this. I mean, with a few exceptions, let people make up their own minds on what offends them or not.

I don't really understand the ban. It's a game. It's not historical accurate. So what?

If you haven't seen Avatar The Last Airbender then I seriously suggest you do.

It's a kids series that does a seriously good job at explaining, or showing, complex topics.

The "there is no war in ba sing se" meme is from the second season, where the main characters seek help from a powerful nation (modelled after China) that practices harsh revisionism and keeps the population stupid and complacent.

A game is propaganda? Who is getting facts from games? This isn't Number Munchers.

This sounds like something that just isn't going to make sense to me. I can see it being insensitive. Don't see the necessity for a ban though.

Any bit of media can be propaganda. People form opinions based on what they read and see. This includes games

Certain elements of history have a lot of importance for different countries.

America's relative geographic isolation and economic size makes it more difficult for locals to appreciate such issues (although from my relatively weak knowledge of North American history, US constantly invaded Canada and Mexico, but this was a while ago in the 19th century).

Additionally, the mod brandished the image of military dictator Chun Doo Hwan as its cover.
