Sunrise. Visually there isn't too much between them, but the optimism of looking at a sunrise with the whole day in front of you edges out the melancholy of the day being over.
I find sunsets at home in the central US to have more vivid colors, but that could be a combination of how much dust is in the atmosphere to the west compared to the east and the transition from light to dark instead of the reverse.
When on vacation there doesn't seem to be as big of a difference.

Sunrise feels more special. Almost everyone sees the sunset every day without really trying. You have to put in effort to see the sunrise. Even if that effort is just having to get up for work at 5am.
Depends where I am living. Where I am right now, the Sun sets over a lake, but it doesn’t rise above a mountain until late morning after all the orangy greatness is gone.
I was just thinking about this last night. I think most people would say sunset, because they see it more often, but then again, that makes seeing sunrise more special. Personally, I prefer twilight, either before sunrise or after sunset. I like the blue-grey color of the light.
Twilight before the sunrise, walking through a dead silent village/small town as it's just about to wake up and the only other noise is the distant clang and bangs or the garbage disposal truck is a magical mood.
Sunset. A million times sunset. Like it is nowhere even close. Sunrise sucks. It's miserable to see. It's this cool moment but then you can even savor it. You have to go do your duties for the day. Sunset is chill. It is a spiritual moment that can lead into more relaxed activities instead of just going to work or something lol.

I prefer watching sunrises in terms of sheer aesthetics, but sunsets are also nice and more conducive to my schedule. If I see a sunrise, it's usually because I'm obligated to get up far earlier than I want to. They are beautiful and a beginning rather than an end — they are just indicative of a long, tiring day.

And then it flows into the twinkling of stars, and the silvered light of the moon. Harsh bright light giving way to softer reflections as an unseen world comes alive.

Sunrise! especially if you are in nature, watching all manners of creatures come alive makes you feel alive.

Sunrise. Saw one over a blanket of clouds on a trans-Pacific flight and it was damn near life changing. I also like cooler air temps.

For me it’s the opposite. But I work 3rd shift, so that’s probably why.
Very true. If I worked nights I feel like seeing a sunrise night be fun on occasion, but I'd be scared it would fuck with my rhythm.
