Do you think lemmy.ml content should be reposted to lemmy.world alternatives?

replace lemmy.world with whatever else you think is a better choice for it

Clarification: reposting here refers to reposting done by another person who was not the original poster

Why though?

We can just subscribe to the community on lemmy.ml, there's no point reposting when it's already there ready to federate.

Because cm0002 is reposting content without prior permission, it made me think about it, people got a real hate boner for lemmy.ml but maybe they have differing opinions for reposting?

Do you think that people generally need to ask permission before reposting something (non-OC, anyhow) that was shared on a public forum?

Lulz. I just stole your comment. It's mine now.

I don't mind the normal cross post, but this half automated reposting

FYI, it's not automated, the most automation I use is notifications. Everything else is done completely manually. And crossposting is easy, a notification comes in and I can take care of it in most cases right away wherever I'm at because, ya know, smartphones LOL it just takes me a few minutes lmao

Also, you're slinging insults at or about mods, comms, admins and whole instances that have nothing to do with it so maybe that's where they're coming from on that lol

He also steals crow pictures which I’ve reported to every crow picture stealing authority imaginable and all I get are welfare calls from mental health experts.

They stole that crow picture from me.

I’ve been reporting it to anyone who will listen and the only things I get back are what’s Lemmy and why is a crow wearing a pirate hat?

We’re not enemies we’re brothers bonjour.

Repost, no.

They should grow organically on nicer instances.

I try to unsubscribe ML communities when I find a decent alternative anywhere else.

the mods who run it (and also created the lemmy software which makes this whole thing more complex) love stalin and mao (theres a reason why its Lemmy.ml and not .com, the ml stands for marxist-leninist) and putin and often silence opinions they disagree with on their platform. They use their instance to spread their propaganda about authoritarism and communism and while their aren't the only instance to do that, the other ones weren't run by the Lemmy devs, so other instances defederated from them - I'm talking about places like hexbear and lemmygrad

theres people who've been on Lemmy longer than me and have spent time documenting some of the more insane mod actions and views of the .ml admins and Im gunna go find that right now

edit: ok I found it, here's a list of stuff the admins there have done: https://lemmy.world/post/29072279 and here's the community about documenting stuff I got the post from https://lemmy.world/c/[email protected]

posting these as .world links because .ml has blocked them (which of course they did) so I don't then you can sub to that comm from your account

They were to the left of netanyahu. centrists don't like that.

.ml is the third instance that centrists have a problem with. When their constant whining gets them what they want and .world defederates from .ml, they'll pick another instance and start whining about that.

I'm sure the moment they defed from .ml after years of complaining about .ml after not doing the thing that would make them happy, dbzer0 will be the next on their chopping block of "Tankie Triad" or whatever the liberal echo chamber says.

conservatives don't like being reminded that people to their left exist.

until they lose an election and need someone other than themselves to blame.

They're all part of a conspiracy community where they think every nation or group the West doesn't like is good and, less plausibly, working together. They take issue with anything that goes against that narrative.

Honestly it seems goofy but harmless to me. But, many people take personal offence. And they did make Lemmy.

I think it would be mostly harmless if they didnt they to use their unique position as the 'main' Lemmy instance to spread their crazy ideas beyond the confines of their space

like theres other far left echo chambers in the fediverse, but theyve been mostly defederated from, like hexbear

So what though? "We're the baddies" has the opposite of mass appeal, even in other cases where it's true and makes sense. They can shout at clouds all they want, along with the flat Earthers.

Sure, why not. And they can do the same over to their side. And stealing certian content from Reddit would also be good.

I assume crossposts are handled properly by Lemmy's feeds? I don't think I've noticed duplicates much. My answer would change if not, because there's going to be no way to predict people's replication preferences.

I have, before, posted one item that I thought was interesting on ![email protected] to ![email protected], as I know that beehaw.org has defederated from lemmy.world and the item was interesting and otherwise lemmy.world users wouldn't have seen it.

I don't think that I'd try to mirror the complete content of a community, though. I mean, different communities may have different interests.
