Wyld said at their meeting McDonald referred to a tweet Wyld had posted about the death of the Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar in October, which referred to him as a martyr. Wyld deleted the tweet shortly after posting it.

Uh… was he not objectively a martyr? Like, an Israeli soldier who is very enthusiastic about their current assignment and is killed as part of them would also be a martyr. It’s just someone killed for their beliefs (including political beliefs), right?

no

it is not the same thing

martyrs in Christian theology do not go to heaven by killing infidels , they die for beliefs

little L liberals support every struggle for freedom except the current one.

I have no idea what people expect resistance to systematic displacement, imprisonment, discrimination, and murder to look like. If waving some flags and a few kindly worded speeches would have been enough then the 100 prior years was plenty of time for it to do that. At a certain point it becomes kill your attacker or die. Let's not forget who the aggressors are.

Shit sucks, but there aren't exactly innocents in an active colonisation and genocide program.

my fam was in the resistance in wwii

they attacked railways stations, police stations, military bases, sabotaged military operations. Their targets were the authority who were the occupiers

they didn't attack a village and burn children to death

So firstly the invasion of France (assuming you mean French capital R resistance? not like the Warsaw uprising or whatever?) was not a program where the French nationals were split into disconnected areas while German nationals took their land. That sort of displacement was basically only done by German military and government in order to set up their occupation infrastructure.

Secondly the occupation of France was quite short, and during an active was so comparing the circumstances directly is a bit misleading. What did early Palestinian resistance look like?

Thirdly, and I think this is quite key, the French resistance did a shitload of absolutely horrifying stuff and discussions of the right to resist usually point this out: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right_to_resist

The unfortunate reality is that resistance is ugly and chaotic, that the moral responsibility lies with oppressors to not oppress, and not turn their citizens into targets by involving them in oppression and carrying out acts in their name, and it is the responsibility of citizens to avoid claiming fruits of such programs such as land and resources.

I don't think children were burned to death. That was a false claim by some old Israeli guy which was debunked.

However your approval of burning children is disturbing.

I said no children were burned by Hamas on October 7. Seegoon was talking about Oct 7.

Why don't you name disruptions of peace pre Oct 7 instead of calling me names?

Zionism is the belief that Jews should have a self governing state in the Levant. Not all Zionists are expansionist.

Where would you expect Jews to go?

Jews aren't going anywhere, neither are Palestinians. That is our starting point. Wishing it was otherwise is pointless.

Gaza had peace before Oct 7, although heavily policed border control because of suicide bombers coming out and rocket parts going in.

Jews in Warsaw didn't have billions of dollars in international aid like Gazans did. Gazans did not go hungry. They had peace except for retaliation when they fired rockets into Israel. What other disruptions of peace were there?

Try to be civil. Bullying to get your way does not work online. And in real life bullying leads to the tragic war in Gaza.

I will endure your thuggish language. West Bank settlers is another story and I agree there is much injustice there which even left wing Israelis are opposed to. Jewish settlers in Gaza were ejected in 2005.

I am not going searching that website for examples of violence which was not in retaliation for a Palestinian rocket attack or storming of the border. If you can point me to examples I will read.

The current liberal hegemony is on the wrong side of history.

We need to completely clean out the existing parties and replace them with leaders who will represent us.

Well we.could have started by viting Green and moving the Overton Window at the recent elextion but we fucking didn't.
