Wisdom teeth surgery 1 day before concert.
I have a though dilemma. I got a date for a wisdom teeth surgery but It's one day before a concert. Could something bad happen if I attend both? I will only drink water on the concert.

You will be absolutely miserable. I was leaking blood out of my mouth for days after mine and the pain was seriously intense. Heavy dental surgery like that requires rest to recover properly.

Same, I had all 4 extracted and the next day I wasn’t happy but depending on the concert I probably would have been ok the next night.
I learned after my wisdom teeth removal that I'm highly sensitive to Vicodin... I was either high as hell or passed out for the whole week after my surgery. Still miserable when awake too. :(

Yeah I had all 4 of them removed and mine were growing in horizontally instead of vertically, pushing the rest of my teeth. 0/10 experience.
I'd say ask your doctor. They can give you the best advice. Personally, I think it'd be a bad idea to got to a concert that close to a surgery even if it's "just" a wisdom tooth removal.
Can absolutely agree with that, but I was a dummie since I forgot about the concert when deciding on a date. I think I'm gonna ask him before the surgery then.

You honestly will probably have a bad experience at the concert and it'll just sour everything for you. If this were maybe a week after I'd say go for it, but 24 hours isn't enough time and you'll probably still be in some serious pain while also feeling like crap.
Take the raincheck and get some rest! They'll always be more concert dates!
Yeah that's why I'm really hesitant. I already fucked my ear with tinnitus and other stuff after going swimming when my earwas still in recovery stage.

Luckily in my case it's only 1 wisdom teeth and it's roots are really small. There's no serious misalignment with it.
I had mine out when I was like 18 on a Friday and I hosted a house party the following Saturday/Sunday. They gave me pain pills so I wasn't even uncomfortable.
Just don't smoke weed/anything really, don't suck dick. Don't use a straw. Or do anything that creates suction in your mouth. Then only do what you feel up to.
Although I've gone to concerts in a wheelchair after internal surgery so I might just have a high pain tolerance and a low FOMO-tolerance

I doubt that you will be able to do that, at least not without causing some bleeding. I couldn't even open my mouth properly to even eat for about 1-2 weeks. (But I had roots with 90° angles in them, so they had to drill out some of the bone...)

I know it's disappointing, but that's good to hear. I didn't have stitches, but many extractions, and even then the dentist told me to be very gentle with myself so as not to cause the wounds to start bleeding again. Take care, and rest well.

Why type of concert? Will you be sitting the whole time or will there be mosh pits?
If it's more of a party than a concert then seriously don't go for your own safety. You'll be either woozy or in pain (or both) and you won't enjoy it.
Now if it's like a traditional seated concert, that's probably fine as long as you have someone with you. I would not recommend going out on your own a day after the surgery.
Oh wow. I was in no position to attend jack. I was high on painkillers with stuff shoved in my mouth. I think you’ll have a miserable time if you attend both.
I felt fine the day after getting mine pulled.
Lots of ibuprofen and Tylenol for the pain (not both at the same time IIRC) but other than the risk of getting elbowed in the face I don’t see any problems.

Don't do it. There will be other concerts, but you only have wisdom teeth surgery once. See if you can sell your ticket to someone who would love to go but didn't get a ticket.

Yup, and you don't want dry socket. When i had my wisdom teeth pulled, i read up on them... made sure to stay 100% still for 1 week 👀
You're probably not going to have a good time at the concert. Also, do not use a straw to drink anything, dry socket is not something you want to experience.
Just had mine pulled out a couple weeks ago at nearly 40. Mine was rough as one was still partially buried in the gums and the dentist remarked about how deep my roots went. Pain and jaw soreness was rough for a couple days but bearable. I could only eat soft stuff like scrambled eggs and barely open my mouth.
Alternatively, my wife just had hers pulled and her dentist told her she had the smallest wisdom teeth he'd ever seen and she had less pain and a speedier recovery.
Bottom line is that it depends on your specific teeth. You might be fine but you'll probably be hungry and sore.

I had to take codeine for a week after getting just one removed and I was absolutely out of it. So, your mileage may vary.

Yeah, it's an opiate. This was a while ago, and I suspect it's probably not routinely given out now as it was then. But basically in a lot of pain and the drugs floored me. But really I think it depends on how impacted the tooth is, and what they need to do to remove it. So it's different for everyone.
Yeah, it's going to suck. Your mouth will be pretty sore, a bit foul, and tasting bloody. I'd give the concert a pass and save yourself the headache.
Yeah I've passed onto the concert and I've had the surgery like 2 days ago. Fuck it's really painful, that's for sure.

I don't imagine something bad will happen. But you should absolutely push back the surgery date. You'll still be in a lot of pain the next day. And I doubt they'll change the concert date for you.

When I had my wisdom teeth out, whatever they gave me for pain made me really out of it, but I barely felt anything. About 3 days after, a friend wanted to go to a movie and I stupidly agreed. I didn't take the pain meds, and about 1/3 of the way in the pain came back and it was awful. Luckily I was smart enough to bring the meds and took them before it wore off completely, but it was pretty miserable.
Long story short, your mileage may vary, but I'd recommend not going to the concert. Or if it's someone you really want to see, rescheduling the surgery.
Why are you having them out? If it's cause they're causing you pain then you might be better having them out. Pain should be less after even soon.
My dentistrecommended me to pull it out, even though I feel no pain currently. Her reasoning was that probably it could cause pain after a while, so best to pull it out before that happens.
US? I've heard about this. You really don't need to pull them if they're not an issue. No other country does that. Here they take them out if they grow in wrong or if you don't have enough space and they're squashing the other teeth, but never 'just in case'.
Depending on how they are growing, there is good reason for lots of people to have them removed early.
If they're growing in straight, nothing to worry about, just let them go. But if they're not, they'll grow sideways, get impacted, fuck up the alignment of your teeth, potentially develop a cyst or bacterial infection, and leave people with permanent jaw alignment disorders.
It's not a guarantee that these things will occur, but the idea of preventative medicine is to be better safe than sorry, before it becomes a much harder problem to solve.
Ultimately I trust what the medical expert advises, and my dentist had advised me to have them removed.
Oh wow then I'm gonna surprise you. It's a private clinic in Hungary and the wisdom teeth surgery is done at general hospital, so they don't benefit from this financially at all.
How odd. I still wouldn't if they're not an issue. It's a lot to go through if you don't need it.
In my experience, you can go on concert in same day.
When I got mine removed, recovery was expected to be quick and easy because mine didn’t really even have roots yet. Recovery was neither quick nor easy. My advice is to give yourself the time to recover. You don’t want to be going to the concert while bleeding/in a lot of pain.
I didn't go to a concert after getting mine out, but I was up for anything the next day. I was amazed at the lack of pain, I never felt a thing from the surgery. The worst part about it was having to watch what I ate and taking care of the extraction area for a few weeks. It's different for everyone, but it might not be bad for you at all.

I had mine done in pairs, the first time was one of the worst experiences of my life with weeks of intense pain, and the other was uneventful.

Yeah super lucky! I don't know what happens during the extraction process but I guess the oral surgeon really knew his stuff.
As others have said, it’s really going to depend how invasive the removal is. Personally, all 4 of mine were impacted, and 90* out of what they should have been. So there was slicing, breaking, drilling, more breaking, pulling, more pulling, more drilling, and more breaking, then finally stitches. I was awake for the whole thing. Super fun.
Most people opt for anesthesia, so that alone may make it hard to go to a concert the next day. Some people swell up really bad (I looked like a chipmunk) and have really bad pain ( I had zero). Some people are so doped up on pain killers they don’t know what’s going on. My surgeon gave me lots of Percocet (still not sure why).
Personally, I wouldn’t try to go to a concert, but the type of music I listen to, concerts can be brutal.
The one piece of advice I have is do NOT under any circumstances use a straw/smoke/etc for as long as they tell you. You do NOT want dry socket.

So in my case it would be doable. However I see that a lot of people here have different experiences so it might really depend on how difficult they are to extract and other factors.
Personally, I had 6 wisdom teeth removed and was perfectly fine that same evening. If you feel up to it then it should be fine, but don't push it if you still feel the need to rest.
I did this right before Mayhemfest 2010. Asked my doctor if it was OK. His advice was just, don't get punched in the face and remember that you will get drunk faster on antibiotics.
Do you have angled roots? If yes, the surgery will probably take a while and you will totally not be in the mood for the concert anyway.
If you instead have tiny roots, they just have to cut the gums a bit and the tooth will pop out. Worst case of going to the concert would be bleeding? Take some gauze balls with you to put on the cut if that happens.
Day 2 or 3 post-surgery (not the day after) is earliest I'd be wanting to do anything about wisdom teeth surgery.
