Hey question for europeans as a USian here, what is that thing hitting the bus with the word "Zangenduetsch" on it?

Is it like a big self driving car on a track or something?

its like the hyperloop but without vacuum, better suited for mass transportation, easier to build and maintain, able to transport booth passengers and freight but with the big difference: it actually works

Wait people use these things for transportation??? Where are the ads then?

inside of course (thats an older train in berlin, the last few could still be in use)

Very cool, but my first thought is how do you keep poor people from using it though? I don't know if I would want something nice like that if somebody poorer than me could also use it.

edit /s !!

That's the fun part: We don't allow people to use them for free and we build beneches on which you can't lay at the spots where the vehicles stop. So you're safe when it comes to homeless. How great, isn't it?

Great to know not everything about this is so foreign to my country :)

punches self in face

Why are they so foreign to your country, though? Poor people who use them but can't afford a ticket frequently get jailed.

At least before the Deutschlandticket (Germanyticket) that allows travel with "short distance" trains the price still was too steep for very poor people to get monthly or yearly tickets (i am not talking about people with jobs) and they walked/biked (some that still want to save money refuse to buy the Deutschlandticket too). Or the infrastucture in rural areas is bad (especially where the AfD/Nazis are strong)

It has big windows so you can find the sadness outside. Mostly works when the train is underground

It's a style of writing German used primarily in ich_iel. The name is a word play on tongs (German Zange) and tongue (German Zunge, or, as a synonym to language, Sprache). Zangendeutsch uses as many English words as possible, but translates them in the most ridiculous manner possible. The word Zangendeutsch itself is a nice example: die deutsche Sprache = the German tongue => the German tong = Zangendeutsch. There is a tiny community reverting this principle, using English vocabulary with German phraseology: i_itrl. Check it out to get an idea of the effect.

Oh so it’s the same rule as in Rance.

English is forbidden and must be translated to French in the most idiotic way possible.

My favourite is probably: What the fuck = C’est quoi la baise.

Yes, and posts or crossposts are poteaux and croix poteaux.

Fickt euch alle; was habt ihr mich angetan?

Wie heißt denn, „pfostieren“ wenn man sich mal nicht auf dem Internetz lächerlich machen will?

Gibt tatsächlich keine so richtig gute Übersetzung für "to post something".

puts finger to earpiece and clandestinely relays

"yes sir, it looks like we have another trained insurgent spreading propaganda"

That's gotta be fairly easy to get right once you know what's going on. It's basically just deliberately inadequate word for word translations.

10

I have been learning about trains recently and I don't think it is fair to expect trains to make busses jobs easier

4

We should like set up a discord where we set specific channels for languages and do the whole integrated learning thing.

Or maybe I should play Elden Ring in different languages

Or watch Star Wars in different languages

4

"The Simpsons" has been translated into so many languages it's basically a televised Rosetta Stone.
