Most people won't ever see this news, and even then, many people wouldn't care.
If there is a group of people we can trust to properly boycott shit is the Eurovision fans.
Sure, the fans... But the majority of the viewers are people like my parents, who are entertained by it for a week, don't really care all that much about anything but the national rivalry and the cool shows and music, and then it clears off their mind until the next year.

All this is because they dont want the Palestinian flag. They tried banning that by arguing that it was a political motivated signal. Then the argument went, that LGBT flags were too.
So now there is a list of what flags are allowed in, for the show

They banned Russia for war crimes but not Israel. Nothing about what they ban is consistent or makes sense unless their goal is appealing to right wing fascism.
Tbf the only reason they banned the Russian broadcasters was because a big number of other EBU members were threatening with boycott if Russians were allowed to compete. Which didnt happen with Israel, where only a handful of members wanted to see them banned.
And it's pretty easy to see why it is illogical - because you have 56+ broadcasters on the deciding table, between which key personnel can change regularly.

I was going to ask about Nemo and their NB flag. I had no idea that this was already an existing rule and that they were breaking rules to sneak it in. Good for them! Their song was legitimately the best one from last year, too (video).

If I recall correctly, they had their flag at their team booth after their performance, and (maybe?) brought it on stage after the votes were finally tallied and determined them to be the winner.
I do have a strong recollection of them cheerfully waving their flag during the long vote tallying process.
Which is probably why they now want to ban all non-competing country flags from all official areas including the team booth too.

All Christians care about is voting for Israel, even when they don't watch eurovision. That's how Israel got so many votes last year while everyone was booing so hard (even through the anti boo filters they used). There were tutorials on how and when you should vote to support Israel for Israeli and Christians. And many Christians are anti LGBTQ+ so they support this ban. Even though eurovision is as gay as you can get it.
It's an absolute joke of an event anyways. I will make sure to ignore it even harder from now on.

This is about flags specifically. Presumably pride designs in non-flag format are fine.
Eh, seems valid to me. It's not pride flags, it's all flags and symbolism that's not of their country, and it's for sake of the judges and unbiased scoring. The audience, in return, has been given the opposite treatment in that they can now fly whatever they want so long it's not illegal...which could be interesting.
Some times I see this on Lemmy where someone from the Pride community posts these articles that plays the victim card, even though its everyone impacted. The article title is just a flatout lie.
this happens all the time, a rule is implemented that sounds fair and reasonable, but enforcement of the rule isn't and it's just another way to oppress and persecute.

They have banned all flags that are not flags of the nations performing.. this is because people had Palestinian flags last year. Now we can't have any flags other than the nations performing.. this means Israel will be there
