First House Republican calls for Pete Hegseth's ouster

Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.) on Monday became the first Republican member of Congress to openly indicate support for Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth's removal from office.

Why it matters: Hegseth is under fire for a series of scandals including the departures of several of his top officials at the Pentagon and new reporting about his use of Signal to discuss sensitive information.

Why are People UPSET? All he did was Share TOP SECRET MILITARY INTELLIGENCE with Unvetted and Undisclosed Private Citizens on a NONSECURE App! Who cares? It's not like he used a PRIVATE BUT VETTED EMAIL SERVER!

If a Democrat did this we'd be demanding a scalp. I don't like hypocrisy. We should be Americans first when it comes to security," he added.

Anyone who still has an R next to their name is a fascist.

This asshole was confirmed by Congress not long ago. He was a fucking fool from the get go, yet got confirmed. They can complain all they want, it's their fault!

There are already articles out about the administration wanting to get rid of him. This isn't bravery and shouldn't be lauded as such. This is some toady seeing what's going on and being like "That's right, boss! Great idea, boss!"

Why it matters:

It doesn't matter. Don Bacon is not representative of Republicans. He is from a split district that voted for Biden and Harris by about 5 points each.

The writing is already on the wall for Hegseth. Is he trying to pretend he deserves some credit for being a maverick?
