This is horrifying, but something that's cool is that we went from millions of cases of this per year to only 14 cases in 2024, thanks in large part to Jimmy Carter's foundation and campaigning. https://www.cartercenter.org/health/guinea_worm/index.html
Jimmy Carter said that he hoped that the last guinea worm would die before he did, and unfortunately we didn't manage that, but I hope that we're still able to finish the work
