Maybe I’m alone in this but I’d love to play different races from the game to make fortresses. Imagine a rat-man empire hell bent on stealing everyone’s cheese.
The Masterwork Mod back on the pre-steam version let you play Orc Fortress or Kobold Camp. I didn't mess with it too much, but it was pretty novel!

Elves in dwarf fortress will start a 100 year war because you tried to sell them a wooden bowl. Of course I want to play as them
Dude. One time I accidentally tried to sell them a shellcraft crown and they got so pissed that they sent in the bear cavalry.
Biggest hypocrites in the game. I’d rather treat with the cave fish men or the roach men than those tree lovers
They can get pissed just because you cut down a single almond tree to make beds. I need to see if modding the steam version is the same as legacy so I can have rock beds, as dwarves should have by default.
