During Trump's first term there were still Republicans who cared about things like:

  • Constitution
  • Law
  • Good Governance

They've all been purged now.

He could fire the VP and appoint anyone he likes (his son) without governance.

No, he can't. The VP is chosen, not hired. He can only be removed by impeachment or resignation.

Chosen by him, but he can't fire the VP. Pence would have been gone Jan 5 if he could. Fun note, VPOTUS used to be the presidential runner up, until the twelth amendment. That's a bit why the office is protected and elected seperately.

And why there are some strange laws that could keep two folks from the same state from running on the same ticket. It's not forbidden, but there's some weirdness about it.
