Lemmy does feels like what Reddit was 10-12 years ago. Smaller communities but great threads and discussions.

It's just a matter of time. Digg will rise again. Digg will fail. Lemmy shall rise.

But - as someone who was on reddit back in the oughts, you should appreciate the fuck out of this community while it lasts. Something will inevitably fuck it all up, and we'll all have to move on again.

I'll try better to post more constructive stuff. But I'm usually just a quips guy. We need all your help!

Yep, that's the sad reality of it. I've lived in multiple forums since back when it was all message boards. It always falls apart in the end

That’s life. There’s always a beginning and an end. The end really sucks….

weird, and i don't want to flame, but i disagree with absolutely everything you said. but i know that type of thinking. it's really hard to flip it back, but it can be done.

that's life. there's no beginning and no end. all you ever have is the in-between part.

It's funny because the app o use for Lemmy has reddit styled ads 😭 I hate it so much (I'm using boost)

If you mean the slider, fair enough.

If you were like me and didn't know about the double slider; if you drag the comment left, the first symbol is to collapse to parent, if you keep dragging a bit further, it goes to reply. Hope that helps!

You can change the settings I think in Voyager.

Im on voyager now and I replied to you using the “…” and tapping “reply.”

You can also allow change the settings to show normal upvote and downvote buttons. (If your instance allows downvotes you can downvote on the down arrow button too. )

Nah that's annoying too. I'm going to try sync or stick with boost.

So. I know it was a short turn around, but I am sticking with boost and just laying the $4 for add free. It's the cleanest of all the other ones (in my opinion)

Boost's ads are mostly there to support the developer, but a one time purchase ($5 irrc) absolutely makes them go away.

I use Thunder.

I love that there are so many different apps available for such a comparatively small platform as Lemmy. So many flavours to chose from :)

I've tried that many different types of unicode formatting and still had posts removed. I looked at removed posts from reveddit and my jaw dropped at how much they are censoring. Most common for me was Lemmy and Canada related comments or links.

I'm not surprised. When I was forced of the site maybe a year and a half ago I knew exactly the direction they were going. Facebook, twitter, etc. etc. We are the product. They don't want us to have ideas. If you knew exactly the evil thoughts that goes through the tech CEOs head you wouldn't be so quick to judge those who have gone out in a murderous rage.

Edit: Since I'm waxing poetic; if you're an anime fan rewatch full metal alchemist (I prefer brotherhood). There are so many analogies you can derive that are directly applicable today.

We are the fodder for the philosopher stone and the alchemists goal is to turn us and the homunculi into a tool that will summon what ever it is they want at their command.

Watching that now with my kids, it’s just as good today as it was when it came out.

Because mods aren't stupid, they can see the unicode. Only automod is tricked by that, and they're not the only mod actually looking at the subreddit they moderate. Any human reviewer can see through this.

Have you tried Lemming? I figured it would be easy to migrate to that symbol. I'm sure there's pictures and emoticons too that could represent lemmings and thus Lemmy.

I made a post 2 days ago that even contained links to lemmy.ml and join-lemmy.org and it wasn't removed ... yet.

Maybe also depends on community (are mods removing it manually?) or other account-specific factors (more chance of removal if your account is already "suspicious"?)

You reached the end
