I like the idea, but really dislike the name. Makes it sound like it should follow in USA's footsteps which exactly what we don't want.
I think European Union still sounds better, it's a marriage.
Sounds a bit stale. Maybe come up something different. How about

Ok, EU, we are fucking not calling it US(E).
I like the idea, but I don't think it's going to happen. People aren't ready to give up national sovereignty.
Depends on what form that takes, and how gradual.
Germany for one is already a federal country. Meaning that while a lot of things are done by the federal government but quite a few state-internal things are done by the states themselves, such as education for one.
This could be done for the EU as well

I just want to bring this up because this community is about discussing European products/services and we don't want the discussion to turn into nationalism/euronationalism.
