I have a Nikon D750 (about 75K shutter actuations) and the cheapest Sigma super-telephoto (150-600 mm) that you can buy. It cost me about $800 several years ago.
One thing that helped me with this picture is that the groundhog was very close to me and wasn't afraid.

That's awesome, not scaring the animals is definitely the hardest part of shooting wildlife to master.
Up until recently I was using a Canon Rebel T7 and Canon 75-200 f/4, last month I upgraded to a Nikon Z6 II and Nikkor 200-500.
I also have a bunch of photos. You show me yours and I'll show you mine.
Mine aren't very good. :-(
