The Civic killed the possum, and the joke is it was made as a sacrifice to the automobile god, who was pleased and granted it a longer life.

I had something like this happen a few months ago. I was in a parking lot and took a corner too tight and rode up on a curb and then dropped off it, which caused my car to think one of the seatbelts wasn't clicked.

I spent the next several months ignoring the dinging until I did the same exact thing in another parking lot, which fixed it. Good ol' percussive maintenance.

They give off a rotten smell and turn funny colors to pretend they're dead, and other animals don't eat them! This proves other animals understand and recognize death! Turns out many species have a concept of mortality! Very cool!

Also, marsupials! I love possums!

Also, don't they eat ticks and aren't they immune to rabies?

Just looked it up; some studies show the ticks claim to be untrue or at least exaggerated. They are resistant to rabies but not immune.

I’m glad they aren’t immune because after one but my grandmother’s dog, and I had to shoot it so they could test it. I would have felt guilty finding out the odds were zero.

That offering of possum was good for the engine light. Fixing the whole engine asks for a bigger sacrifice though. Sorry.
