Elon Musk says he might sue Gov. Tim Walz over accusations he gave a Nazi salute

Summary

Elon Musk is considering suing Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz after Walz accused him of performing a Nazi salute at Trump’s inauguration.

Musk’s gesture, where he placed his hand on his heart before extending his arm outward, sparked controversy due to its resemblance to historical fascist salutes.

The Anti-Defamation League deemed it an “awkward gesture” rather than a Nazi salute but acknowledged public concern.

Musk, who owns X (formerly Twitter), responded to calls for legal action by saying, “I think I will.”

Just an awkward arm gesture, like that awkward Mr. Hitler kept doing.

Yes, that salute. The salute Nazis do. The salute specifically for Nazis. The Nazi salute.

63

Yep I hope he does bring that lawsuit so that the video of his multiple nazi salutes will have to be seen in court as evidence

30

not many people know this but nazis and Hitler actually stoll it from us. Lots of people are saying this now that we should take it back

6

And then he turned around inside of 5 seconds and did it again towards where die Führer Trump was standing. TOTALLY not a Nazi thing, bro, just trust me.

More people should call him out so he can waste his money and time in court.

It's a nice thought, but:

  1. I doubt he'll be using his money for this frivolous lawsuit
  2. It would also waste Walz's and/or Minnesota's money as well as any other defendants
  3. Good luck getting him to pay up if you try to countersue for damages / legal fees.

Couldn't someone argue Musk's dual-citizenship could be grounds for moving this from civil to federal; wouldn't diverse citizenship apply here?

I'm on mobile (voyager), I tapped the link and it opened in the generic browser and I could save with long press, so i guess copy paste the link to a browser if you want to save atuff

Exactly the same process I tried - however long pressing seems to just highlight random parts of the page, like the icon on the bottom left instead. Ended up saving it on my desktop instead. Thanks though!

2

Going to court might result in an official court finding that it was indeed a nazi salute.

63

What a great idea! Have it confirmed in a court of law that Musk performed a Nazi salute at Trump's inauguration.

If everyone’s saying it how is one guy legally liable for saying it?

40

Even if you want to play devil's advocate, nobody anywhere EVER keeps their fingers together and their palm down when making an "I'm offering something to you" gesture. The Anti-Defamation League is full of shit.

36

Why is he so offended? Can't he take a joke? It's not a big deal. He's exagerating. What a snowflake beta male.

30

From what I know about Walz, he'll say something like this:

"Back when I was a teacher, we had a very well defined protocol for dealing with troublesome students like this. Kids do and say stupid stuff all the time. Threats aren't tolerated, but if the threat is something that won't really have an effect the response is simple: ok, do it. Otherwise we ignore them and they usually get bored or angrier to really get themselves in trouble."

20

Funny that this group keeps accusing dems of politicizing the legal system.

Yes, and he thinks he'll win a lawsuit against someone for calling him out, which is foolish. He clearly is not reading the temperature on the issue correctly.

Just because he claims autism doesn't mean his billionaire bully behaviour can be placed on that.

How many autistic people sue in this situation and how many rich babies do the same?

First off: my comment was clearly joking.

Second: his claims of autism have been widely challenged, even by his own close friends and family. He early uses it as a smokescreen defense to lie, cheat, steal, and just generally be an awful human.
