Honestly, it takes surprisingly little recoil to do damage.
My dad managed to split his eyebrow with a little .177 BSA 12ftlb air rifle.
He didn't think and rested the scope against his eyebrow; was a blunt, cresent shaped cut. Certainly a good way to learn what not to do
I split my eyebrow with a .22 lr doing the same thing. Glad I learned the lesson on that before my first time firing a .308 or 30-06
