we will continue to call your game an action rguelike, sir. you don't get to add a twist to a genre and then be who's the genre

Hack'n Slay. arpg feels more like an umbrella term for any RPG with an action combat system. It's at least how we described it back during SNES times with games like Secret of Mana, opposed to games like Final Fantasy with their turn based combat.

I mean, I was there when the discourse around Diablo 1 was "it's not a real RPG, it's mostly just Gauntlet with loot", so "not ARPGs" and "Diablo-likes" have been in my lexicon from the ground floor.
