Should we add guns to lemmycraft? (options inside)
So, earlier today I was in an elytra dogfight with bloops where we flew with elytras and fireworks. I almost got a few good shots with my fireworks crossbow, but it was too slow and took way too long to load. So I thought, man, this would be better if I had a machine gun.
And then I found a plugin that adds guns. You won't have to download any mods!
I've come up with three different options for how we could proceed.
1: we do not add guns.
Please don't pick this, you will make me very sad.
2: We add guns, but don't allow people to use them, and reserve them for special events. There's a plugin that makes items uncraftable, so we could use this on the guns, so only Edward could be able to distribute them or something for special occasions.
3: we add guns, with no restrictions whatsoever.
Personally, I'm leaning towards the second option, but let me know your choice below.
I am opposed generally to mods like that. Not because guns, but because I feel they really don't fit with the general minecraft aesthetic and mechanics of the game. Nowadays, the game is in such a state that vanilla (or sometimes even vanilla-plus) gameplay, at least for me, allows a great deal of stuff to do. I find it a good thing that the closes thing we have to guns is the crossbow with rockets. In case of the second option, which kind of events do you have in mind? If they are uncraftable and there's a good reason for them, I think something like that might have a place.
As I said at the top, the crossbows were way too slow. I thought it would be fun if we could do like a pvp shootout once in a while, or just a dogfight like I originally proposed.
Not mod, plugin. Mods need to be downloaded by everyone, so we're sticking to plugins or server side mods. Luckily, I found a plugin for guns.
You know, liberal who downvotes everything, isn't this a bit extreme?
Now we just need a comrade that can negative-downvote things
No guns, this isn't the US
I'd say leave the vanilla experience vanilla. More people can enjoy it more easily that way, and the Minecraft aesthetic and gameplay is preserved.
What might be interesting though is some modpack like Feed The Beast, or Tekkit (is probably gone? Been out of the loop for years) and be able to do a lot more in ways of automation.
Alright. You win, edward. I won't be able to play for a while or not too long since I have stuff to deal with in real life, so have fun I guess.
We should make a lemmycraft feedthebeast server so we can develop productive forces (in minecraft). Also achieve fully automated post scarcity socialism (in minexraft). Most industrial farms in vanilla involve enslaving villagers.
1, I'm not necessarily against all mods, but a gun mod completely changes what minecraft is. Its not like a small vanilla plus style mod, or something from vanilla tweaks that changes a few crafting recipes, disables phantoms, or adds a tpa command. It completely changes the game, in my opinion for the worse. I suppose for a special (one/few day) event things like that might be fun, but I wouldn't want guns in the game normally. I'd want them completely removed between events, not just made uncraftable. If there's only so many in the world, but there constantly, that's even worse in my opinion. Then only a few people have access to them, which is not something I like the idea of.
No idea, I remember Flan's mod having various weapons, it would a bit op but idk.
As far as mods go, these were always my favorites: OreSpawn, JurassicCraft, Fossil and Archeology, PaleoCraft, CreepypastaCraft, FnaF Universe, Mutant Creatures, Alien vs Predator, Mo Creatures, Morph and many more. Choose some of them if you like it.
The only mods I like for that game are utilitarian ones like the one that lets you chop a whole tree down instead of each block at the expense of chopping time and axe durability. Maybe making more diverse weapons and armor but ones that don't deviate from the vanilla gameplay style. I feel guns are a bit much. You can already make crossbow rocked launchers pretty easily.
