That particular struggle hasn't been real for years. At least not on Android with the "Find my phone" feature that can be accessed from any browser. I'd imagine Apple has implemented something similar by now.
You still need to hear it, like it helps to know if it's at your house or not but where it is... You'd still relay on sound, of course, it overrides the sound setting so that helps.
Not really. No need to call your phone. Just open any browser and let your phone ring. Doesn't even matter if your phone is set on vibrate/silent. It just rings.
