Emisar lights have questionable water resistance.
I have an emisar d2 and dt8 and both are ip 67 but so far any time i tried to use them in wet conditions water got into the body. The strange thing is they didnt actually break they just acted strange for a while and then after drying for a night everything seemed okay. Except my trust in emisar. They are both amazing lights but im always extremely carefull now when using them. Kinda dissapointed. Wanted to do a nld post about my dt8 but this how it ended up. Extra details: they both fogged up, the d2 didnt really turn off correctly. The dt8 worked perfectly for hours after submersion in water but when i changed the battery i noticed the head was audably and visibly bubbling water when i screwed on the cap.

Hanks water rating can and should be taken with a pinch of salt.
My dt8s screws on the bezel were not as tight as they should be and can come loose over time, ideally he should use some low tensile strength loctite and a slightly higher viscosity lube like super lube and ensure the screws are at a reasonable tension.
I do prefer the new screw on bezel for the switch. One of my D4V2s had a visible 1mm gap, fortunately I was able to pop it in the vise and sort it out but shouldn't have shipped like that.
I personally would never submerge my hanklights in water.
Still dissapointing for a one day old "ip67" light.
I agree I would suggest you contact hank and explain your concerns with your lights im sure he will do what he can to make it right

I recall reading the DT8 has poor water resistance. That really turned me off from buying one, despite it having some interesting features that appealed to me.
I actually just discovered this as well with my KR1. I took the pocket clip off of it though, so I’m not sure if that was a factor. It still has a separate o-ring for the tail cap so I wouldn’t have thought so. It was doing a tail stand in my shower when it started acting oddly like you say. Took it apart to find the tail cap had flooded. Still love it, though will be wary from now on.
Not surprised about the DT8 (though it is disappointing considering the "rating").
I would've thought the D2 would be pretty well sealed though, that's more surprising.

Oh no a reddit link /s. Still dont know how my lights survived tho. They were so wet that water was dripping from the pcb. It wasnt a good felling

Sorry for late reply but it was only tapwater(no soap or anything evil) and steam(i was showering and the power went out).
Fwiw, I dropped my D4V2 in about 8" of clean water for 45 minutes or so during work and there were no ill effects
