Low cost, high fiber.
All the memes use baked beans though. More expensive and with a truckload of sugar in the sauce. IMHO the most inferior way to eat beans.

I agree; growing crops and having a healthy garden takes a lot of labor, time, and multiple tries.
When ever I see and marvel at a new local community garden or personal garden, the first thing that does not come to mind is "that looks easy."
Agriculture was a mistake.
