Silo TV Series

Anyone here watching Silo? The 8th episode just aired which means there are two episodes left. So far I've been enjoying this a lot despite some people claiming it was a little slow in the middle. It's only 10 episodes long so even the whole thing goes by pretty quick.

How many gems are on Apple TV that I didn't know about? I'll have to give this a watch.

Severance is the show I will always recommend to anyone else that will listen. It's fantastic.

Stepping away from SF, Slow Horses is excellent if you're into spy thrillers.

5

So far I've only watched ep1 of Silo last night but I'll definitly check that one out too along with a few of the other shows mentioned.

1

Foundation has it's moments, anything to do with the three clones is pretty interesting. But overall a pretty mid show, especially the last part on the Foundation which just turns into boring action

8

Nobody has mentioned this yet, but the comedy platonic is really friggin good. If doesn't look good in the trailers, but it has been a really fun show to watch. I look forward to each new episode.

2

Just finished the 8th episode. So good! I was a little iffy about the show for a little while, but last 3 episodes have been great.

5

i am watching it and enjoying it very much. Also It's great to learn about the books. I'll check them out.

5

This show has been so good, so much fun. Such a great mystery thing going on. I saw a great interview with the author on the Ty and That Guy podcast (which I highly recommend), and he's super interesting.

Purchased the first book and I'm excited to start it.

I'll likely start reading them as soon as the first season is over. Although season 2 was already announced. It will take at least a year or so to actually air and I can't wait that long.

5

Yep, great show! A little slow to evolve the story line, but it has huge potential and I look forward to each episode.

4

I keep forgetting about it because I don’t look on Apple TV much. I love Rebecca Ferguson and Rashida Jones so I should. Thanks for the reminder!

4

So far I'm digging it, but I'm concerned that this slow burn first season will just fall flat season 2 like a lot of mystery dramas do. Haven't read the books or anything though

Like another commenter I keep forgetting to watch it because I don’t check Apple TV often. I loved the books when I read them years ago and was glad to see it got renewed. I think I found some weekend plans

Apple TV has had a few nice science fiction shows recently. I really liked Severance and Foundation was ok.

Severance was excellent. I haven’t watched Foundation but I’ve heard mixed reviews.

2

I think most of the mixed reviews are from people that read the books and don't like some of the changes.

5

I enjoyed foundation. A lot of people are unhappy because they made big changes from the books but I feel the changes were necessary for tv.

1

Just saw the pilot yesterday and was surprised how quick it moves for a mystery. Hope it keeps up the momentum as these things can become a bore. Maybe I should read the book(s?)

3

LOVED the short story and then what he did with the whole omnibus series. I don't have Apple TV but im glad to see this.

3

I’m enjoying the series, and haven’t found it dragging.

I’ve been holding off buying Wool before the season finishes its release, but expect to chew through them quickly once it’s done.

I am though somewhat annoyed with the cliffhanger at the end of every episode. I have to wonder if this is something Apple executives have required, but it’s tiresome.

3

The cliffhangers are quite blatant. Are they worried people will just stop watching if the main character isn't in the middle of jumping off something? This level of cliffhangerness seems kind of outdated. Thankfully I am patient so it doesn't matter too much.

4

Cliffhangers are HUGE factor in determining whether I will watch a series week-to-week or wait-then-binge. I just watched Silo eps. 1-8 this past weekend...it's a good show, but I wish I would have waited another two weeks, tbh.

Is it based on the three book series, arg I forget their names now. I think one is Wool.

Wool, Shift and Dust are the names of the books. I believe the first season of the TV series will only get part of the way through Wool.

I see from another comment that you haven' read the books yet. I don't know if you have avoided spoilers, so I won't g8ve anything away here BUT:

The books, especially Wool, takes a long time to build up to revealing anything big to help the reader understand how the characters ended up where they were. I fact it's not until the second book that you start getting to the meat and potatoes of the story.

Given that, I'd suggest you get into Wool if you don't want the series to possibly spoil the big reveal for you.

4

Honestly that makes the weird pacing of this season make a bit more sense. Not that I didn't like it, just that it was outside of the typical narrative arc. For instance, basically introducing the main character on what was it? episode 2 or 3? Almost like the first two episodes were build ups to the setting and lore. Then show turns into a scifi noir.

2

There's also the three prequel books in the Shift series (Legacy, Order, and Pact) that are really good. Explains how the silo came about to begin with.

1

I just started watching it and didn’t realise there were books. I’ll give them a read.

Such a good show. In a way it reminds me of Snow piercer. What other shows are worth checking out on apple tv?

2

Severance is the stand-out for me. Enjoyed Slow Dogs too. Ted Lasso, obvs.

So many of them are great! For All Mankind is pretty much my favorite tv show right now. Foundation was super cool. I guess a lot of people didn’t like Invasion, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and am excited for more seasons.

4

For All Mankind is great. I didn't know about invasion. How is it? What is it about?

1

I like For All Mankind, but my only gripe with it was how the writing was fine around the kids. The random conflict and character development revolving the kids just really rubbed me the wrong way. Outside of that I've absolutely loved the series.

1

It will give away a lot of things. I really enjoy the show but I can see how it would be better if I hadn't read the books a few years ago.

2

Watched the first couple episodes and got tired of waiting so I read the first book. Would recommend to anyone who’s enjoying the show, it’s pretty good
