How do you explain to your kids what you mean by "Hoe"?
That's a really easy one. A hoe (with the "e") is a gardening tool mostly used for digging narrow trenches, shaping soil, and weeding.
It's a really good thing those shirts didn't say "Ho" because that's way more complicated and should probably include a lesson on why "slut shaming" is wrong.
I think you're missing the racism angle on calling a black woman a ho, but maybe it's good that that's not obvious anymore.
Well, i was mostly just making a joke but the racism falls into the "more complicated" part of explaining the meaning and origin of the word ho to a kid. I think we're both on the same page in thinking that if you did have to explain that shirt to a child, it's important to educate them on why it's wrong to call someone that.
I sadly expect that some common answers are “shut the fuck up” and “she’s just another n—- whore.”
