Two races? In one person?!

Wut what whaaaaa?!

150

Racists today are just lazy, relying on skin color to discriminate. Back in the day the Irish weren't "white". The IRISH!

10

Man, that's the only part I miss from being in the military. That shit was everywhere, and it came in clutch towards the end of the month.

7

Grunts were great. I still get amused at the reaction to a plasma grenade stuck to them. "Not again!"

6

Reminds me of the conspiracy theory Time Cube.

The guy who thought or Time Cube, evidently unhinged, attended a university to defend his claim.

After saying something racist, a person in the crowd claimed they were biracial.

"You're WHAT?!"

Apparently the concept of people from different ethic backgrounds creating children is a nonstarter for some...

Trump: “A Black job is anybody that has a job,” Trump said. “That’s what it is. Anybody that has a job.”

And Biden didn't make sense?

138
AmidFurorreply
fedia.io

I'm familiar with him saying that before. I was surprised he hadn't come up with an answer to the "what are black jobs" question since it has been all over the media in response to his prior claim. But I guess he's too lazy or stupid to think ahead like that.

My comment was more directed at his nonsensical answer. First, if a black job is any job, then why specify it? Second, how can the answer to "what is a black job" be that it is a person?

37

Trump isn't used to fact checking, or people having valid clarification questions. His whole thing is being loud and repeating talking points so people agree with him.

25

Such an obvious question he was going to get, and he has a slam dunk answer he could give. "Black people are historically oppressed, they are disproportionately in lower-education fields and thus disproportionately at risk of losing their job when there is an influx of lower-education workers." It's actually a fine pitch, but you can't actually make it while also appealing to White Nationalists.

Has anyone commented just how plain weird this guy is? I mean don't get me wrong, he's old, he's tremendously old, but he's also just SO weird, right?

This guy, and let me tell you some people really say it, is the absolute, no really he is and I'm telling you the truth, you wouldn't believe it, they say he is weird and nobody else is weirder.

31

Tears in their eyes, they come to me and they say, "sir, oh sir" and did I mention these are BIG men okay, motorcycle men, crying, and they've never cried before because they are so tough and so big, okay? So they say to me, they say, "sir! You're weird and old, sir" and it's true okay, like you've never seen. [Fart]

Well he always talks about how much he wants to bang his daughter so yeah, he's weird

13

Yeah, that's so weird... Normal healthy people don't say that stuff.

My only thought was maybe it's mental decline because he's just SOOO old, but he's been doing this for a long time right? So the fact that he's old, which we all agree on that fact, isn't as relevant as the fact that he's a weird convicted felon, rapist and credibly accused pedophile that's bragged about watching naked minor girls change their clothes...

Republicans man, they are just plain weird people. Also, have any of you noticed that they really seem to be fixated on children's genitals as well? Weird shit, man...

I'd bet actual real money that there's some kids locked up in a pizza place basement somewhere right now, I'm not even kidding.

The "this weird thing seems forced" thing seems like a weak response to an effective tactic.

It's effectively highlighting how they are just really, truly, fucking plain weird - like Ted Cruz giving a high five weird and "if she wasn't my daughter I'd pay her to have sex with me" dangerous weird. It's also important that they contrast with a platform of "we're normal hardworking Americans, like you". No you aren't... You're fucking weird.

It's not about you, the fact that that is how you receive it is something you can work on personally. But again, not about you, friend.

3
Cryophiliareply

Literally fucking EVERYONE has commented it, to the point where now calling him weird seems desperate and cringy. Which I guess fits the lemmy M. O. "Weird" was a good insult because it was new and unexpected. Now you lemmings are just saying it over and over again. It's the type of shit I've always criticized Republicans for, endlessly repeating their talking points. We're better than this. There's no shortage of ways to insult Trump.

I saw a comment that said he was braindead before he got shot, that's a good one.

"Bone spurs" is a good one because it's not done to death. Saw one saying Captain Bonespurs obviously couldn't have read a draft of Project 2025 because drafts make him shit his diapers.

Every other fucking comment shoehorning "weird" into a sentence dilutes its effectiveness. Chill, dudes. Yeah, Kamala got him good with "weird". It's a point you can keep hitting at when he does something particularly bizarre, but that happens all the time. Just saying "he's weird" every time he does anything makes the insult meaningless.

That was a bit odd. Is this your first cultural touchstone moment? We've had so many the last two decades they all tend to run together.

the real purpose was to show the MAGA base that he's willing to bring the racism to "them"

Who cares what cultists think? They're gonna zombie march their way to the polls even if sir fartsalot fucks all their moms for 30 seconds, the longest he's ever lasted during sex. An appearance like this could only be detrimental for him-- none of the centrists will be swayed by any of his usual schtick here, and some of them who are POC will be put off by his jackassery on blatant display.

6

Yup, he knows he has the racist vote on lock. I really think he was hoping to dissuade black voters from going out to vote for her - he's scared of them, and he should be. Without them he wouldn't have lost last time.

4

It's beyond even racism. For someone have the utter mayonnaise to gatekeep someone's inclusion in an identity that you're entirely outside of, that sense of entitlement has to come from somewhere. A sense of superiority, perhaps. Supremacy even.

And if we know anything about Donald at this point, it's that he has mayonnaise pumpining through his very veins.

64

I totally got into it, even pulled up the music vid ,but your comment reminded me how insulting it would be if Radiohead was utilized by Donald "Hitler had good ideas, you won't have to vote anymore," Trump.

Like holy shit, nothing makes me happier than knowing Trump is so unloved.

Yeah, but only when it's convenient. Like what the MAGA ass hats are saying about Kamala.

While I do agree I also want to make it clear I'm not expecting a revolution if Kamala is elected. I'm excited for the chance to get off the back foot and hope our country can start making progress again. It may be cynical, but I pretty much expect second term Obama again.

For more information on what I'm talking about check out FD Signifier's video about Kamala. I don't agree with everything he said, but he has good points.

12
Chrisreply
lemmy.world

I totally agree. I remember all those years ago and Kamala was too conservative for me, but after nearly 10 years of this I am humbled. She will be status quo leaning towards green policies, but not a democratic socialist revolutionary. I'm still fucking excited! Maybe the most I have been since I could vote.

20

I am also still excited, but I can't bring myself to let my excitement over take me. I didn't vote for a president until Obama, and I was in my late 20s early 30s at that point. I say this for transparency because I've never liked voting for the "lesser of two evils". I voted for Obama because it was historic, but also because I thought long and hard and realized that not voting would hurt the chances of anything changing for the better. The worse things get the harder it is to make it better. Like a dirty house that doesn't seem worth cleaning eventually there is trash everywhere and the only answer is to either move out or demolish the house. I'm too old and poor for either of those options now. So my choice is to do what I can to maintain the house long enough for younger generations to do what I couldn't.

I realize that this may be an unrealistic pipe dream, but I have faith that younger generations can do it. We just have to not let the fascists win.

As I read your first paragraph I was reflecting on FD Signifier's vid.

He makes you think and he makes solid points. Only found him recently, but I enjoy his stuff. B side and otherwise.

2

I also only found him recently because I normally don't go to YouTube for that kind of content. He just popped up in my feed one day because of a video about Drake (side note, Kendrick vs. Drake ruined the feed I had going, lol) and I've been a fan since then. I have actually contemplated getting Nebula just to get similar content that isn't controlled by big brother Google.

3

It truly is amazing. A little over a week now and if Kamala isn't the favorite she soon will be. Money, enthusiasm and volunteers ramping at unreal speed. Fast

7

She's not afraid to get down in the mud with him if need be. When fascists become deeply entrenched, that's where you have to go to fight them.

11

His numbers with Repubs aren't changing unless some other guy is anointed Dear Leader. His numbers with swing voters are what matter.

3

Chef's kiss. No notes. Wouldn't have had it go any other way.

Next to watching maralago burn down I'm not sure what else could satiate the desire to see him get his returned.

15
lemmy.world

I mean, to be fair, his base probably came watching him do it.

He enjoys it and it reassures the Republican base he's their GodEmperorDaddu or whatever they're calling him this week. The out in the open, practiced, enthusiastic hatred is what made him their guy to begin with.

He had to hire extras to attend his rallies in 2016 until he opined about wishing Republicans could "beat the shit" out of their political enemies, that moment basically stole the entire Republican party out from under their establishment that was just about manipulating Republicans and their hatreds using dog whistles for corporate profit.

Sure, and it also costs him a ton of votes. Not a good deal for Trump at this point in the election

1

I still don’t understand why he was speaking there in the first place. I read the press release that he would be there, as well as the statement by a Black author/presenter that because of his presence she would not be - it doesn’t sound like it was planned out much in advance. So does anyone know what NABJ’s purpose was with this interview? (I assume Trump’s was chaos and/or intimidation.)

8

It means a bunch of people won't vote for Trump; he had been trying to peel off some of the Black vote. This means he can't

11

The one Achilles heel of the campaigns push for black voters. The candidate doesn't like black people. But other than that, he's doing great.

6

They wouldve been fully justified to shut him up and shut him out as unceremoniously as possible

There are enough true criticisms of Trump that these false headlines are embarrassing. He attempted to deny being racist. He did quite a poor job, but if this is "full racist" then what would an explicit and unapologetic claim of racial superiority be?

-46
lemmy.ml

How is claiming Harris "turned black" not very racist?

That's not him denying being racist, that's him being racist

39
sh.itjust.works

I'm not saying that he didn't make racist statements. (I think he did.) I'm saying that, given that he didn't go up on stage and say "whites are the master race," he did not go "full racist" the way that this headline claims.

-37
lemmy.ml

Having a differing definition of what "full racist" means from the author does not make it false

33
sh.itjust.works

What's the author's personal definition of "full" in this context if it isn't something like "being at the highest or greatest degree"?

-24

You seem to be arguing that because there's the possibility of being more obvious, then it wasn't full.

Your example doesn't include killing or enslaving people for their race. So it's not full racist.

Or there is no objective line, but semi-arbitrary lines and we all get to gatekeep each other's lines.

Because that's the best use of our time.

He's obviously racist. Let's see how he does as he continues to tilt.

21

Are you defending racism? It sounds like you're sad Trump got called full racist, instead of half-racist, but why? Do you want to make sure poor Donny doesn't get trash talked? Wtf?

A little racism, is too much racism. One Nazi, are too many Nazis.

5

I’m saying that, given that he didn’t go up on stage and say “whites are the master race,” he did not go “full racist”

well that's a stupid take 😂

23

He attempted to deny being racist.

he is attacking her on behalf of her race (albeit laughably stupidly), how would you call that?

“She was Indian all the way, and then all of a sudden she made a turn and she became a Black person,” he said of Ms. Harris, whose mother was Indian American, whose father is Black and who has always identified as a Black woman.
