It's bad if you think of it as a cake, but it's fine if you think of it as an abnormally shaped fried egg

Oh my god. Like, maybe? If you get some convection currents going you can trap eggs in them and so they'll arrange themselves in a ring?
But i feel like that would require a rolling boil, which would be too much for poached eggs
