Trump is in favor of Russia annexing Ukraine.

Peace this does not make.

So is Orbán, and what is probably a majority of conservatives at least if they're being honest (which doesn't happen too often)

Ahh right, because the guy who was literally impeached for trying to get Zelensky to fabricate a story about his political opponent and who is beholden to Ukraine’s enemy would be an honest peace broker.

I’m not seeing any reference to Trump being honest in the article.

It’s fairly trivial for the US president to end the conflict. Stop supplying weapons to Ukraine and send them to Russia instead, and it’d be over in a week. This is something I fully believe Trump could do.

I'm not sure if you could call Russian occupation 'peace' in Ukraine

16
illireply

This is exactly what these people mean when they say "peace"

17

It will give Russia another 6-10 years before they do it again just like last time.

That would not bring peace though. Russia would just start with the next country/countries.

Most likely, as a condition of the "peace". Russia would promise not to invade anywhere for a few years to make Trump look good...

1

So when did russia not break any promise they gave? They already promised to not invade Ukraine!

It's just bs.

3
lemmy.world

Ok, but the world isn’t looking for the kind of peace Trump would broker.

What the world wants is for Russia to get the fuck out of Ukraine.

It’s weird how this comment is almost identical to the one the mods already removed

Anyway, the simplest solution for peace is for Putin to fuck off out of Ukraine.

Ah yes... Disarm the people fighting to defend themselves against unprovoked aggression. Clearly the good and moral choice.

12

I have no issue giving money to people defending themself from an agressor.

Do you?

I'm loving how your attitude to Ukraine flipped from "We all just want peace and wuv UwU" to "Fuck off you deadbeat moochers, get a real economy!" in the space of literally a single comment.

1

Because "real" news outlets prioritize their owners' short-term profits over the survival of humanity.

"Can he also protect the virginity of my daughters" asked the man.

My downstairs neighbour is super right wing, told me he is as far right as you can go, full on conservative voter in the UK.

The other day he told me Trump is the only one that is going to be able to save the world and under his rule, the Russia Ukraine war would have never happened.

Told him Trump is in bed with Russia and would have just allowed them to take over, he said no and Trump siding with Russia would benefit the entire world's economy.

Straight face said this to me, man has brain-rot.

24

I would have asked how does a country start a war invading itself, not really expecting anything intelligent response, but let's him know real fast I think he's insane, hopefully. Then actually treat him like a snot-noise kid, brushing him off.

What's russian bringing to the world economy other than cheap oil? That you can source from multiple other less dickish countries.

3

Which would also hurt the economy, given that the US is pumping more oil than ever...

You missed the lines: 'Great deal, greatest of all deals, me dealt, great. Yes, great deal. No other president to be able to make this deal.'

I would pay to be able to see the faces of the EU leaders while telling them such nonsense.

19

....and now that all Ukrainians are safe here in Gaza, how about a round of applause for our earless leader Ronald Ray Rump!...oh donald like the duck?...

It's a rotating system, so it wasn't a deliberate decision.

I'm aware of that, still shouldn't have been allowed, they shouldn't even be in the EU to begin with.

Before Orban and his cronies took over, Hungary was on an upwards trajectory in terms of rule of law, personal liberties. In fact Orban himself started politics with a pretty progressive programm. Guess he got bought out along the way though and like the cash a little bit too much.
