Any naval trainin or activities a week prior? Last time I read about beached whales, it seemed pretty obvious that sonar was completely messing them up.
I prefer to believe that they are at the intersection of intelligence and stupidness that allows them to occasionally buy into a death cult. Also I’m entitled to my own opinion and that’s my truth /s

that some significant-subset of whale-strandings are actually suicides.
So, was this a death cult?
Probably couldn't stand all the noise from boat traffic and sonar use anymore.
