What are some communities you'd like to see on Lemmy that don't exist yet?
This goes out to all the homies that don't have the time/energy to moderate, and to the ones that do that would like ideas (If there's been posts about this already then I'm srry)
Personally I don't care at all, but I've got a few friends hoping for a good gun group similar to liberalgunowners.
I would like a video group like r/unexpected and r/kidsarefuckingstupid for funny vids to share with my wife at bedtime.
Right now I feel like a new interesting and active community is appearing every hour or two so I'm not in a rush, I'm enjoying watching the whole lemmiverse taking its first big steps
https://lemmy.world/c/kidsbeingderps has a similar idea as r/kidsarefuckingstupid as per the sidebar.
There’s also an unexpected on lemmy.ml but it’s dead so maybe someone with a bunch of good videos/gifs can start to populate it or make a new one here.
I'm hoping that Lemmy gets a successor to r/unexpected that doesn't degenerate into a sea of TikTok skit reposts.
Personally I'm just going to miss the oddly specific meme subreddits like r/breadstapledtotrees and r/suspiciousquotes
What I'm missing the most:
AmateurRoomPorn, FemaleLivingSpace, MaleLivingSpace and similars. Plenty of ideas on how to decorate my home, suggestions,..
OneOrangeBraincell, Flonkers, MurderMittens, ToeFeathers, PouchCatatoes and other 'niche' cat subreddits. I can survive with the already existing IllegallySmolCats and Cats, I guess.
GifRecipes, ShittyGifRecipes, ShittyFoodPorn. Ones for learning new stuff to cook, others.. for learning what NOT to cook thankyouverymuch.
HistoryMemes
Tattoos
Submechanophobia
[email protected] is one I saw pop up recently.
[email protected] also.
Thank you!!!
Good pull

I miss fantasy writers and magic building. I would even be willing to moderate them. But I lack any skills to contribute to them. Not to mention I’m worried that most people are not interested in move as writing subreddits struggle to get off ground.
I would so be game for that, am leaving for a trip, will be back at the end of the month, but after that, I'd love to help set it up.
I'm going to miss the subreddits for skilled trade professionals (plumbing, electrical, etc), especially the ones set up to give folks advice, like
r/askaplumber
r/mechanicadvice
r/askalocksmith
and such.
I would love to see some communities like that pop up here.
EDIT: r/contagiouslaughter was always a great way to start my day as well! I'll miss that one for sure
Here are the subreddits I would miss the most:
...and all of the local/regional subreddits for cities / metro areas around the world.
https://lemmy.world/c/legaladvice
https://lemmy.world/c/[email protected]
https://lemmy.world/c/[email protected]
https://lemmy.world/c/dadjokes
https://lemmy.world/c/dadworld
https://lemmy.world/c/[email protected]
https://lemmy.world/c/parenthood
https://lemmy.world/c/parenting
https://lemmy.world/c/kidsbeingderps
https://lemmy.world/c/kidsbeingsmart

My list
Funsies & Weird brainstorming
Stuffs I use for er..... productivity! yeah yeah productivity, that's right!
Subreddits that I often get led by Google search engine and it would be sad if they were to go down perpetually since I would have a very hard time without them...
I'm also very interested in how some different jobs work so I subbed out to these to check on them occasionally... and they sometimes would provide interesting workflows/insights that I can a-hem, take inspiration from...
There's way more but I visit those a bit less, the problem is, I'm not sure if Lemmy can fill the void in my heart but if it does for those main ones (all above) then I think that I can permanently migrate from Reddit.
Don't know about any of the others, but I saw Best of Lemmy Updates pop up yesterday.
Hurrah! Didn't think it would get created.
https://lemmy.ml/c/datahoarder
Is the most active one I've seen.
https://kbin.social/m/DataHoarder
https://kbin.social/m/DataHorder
Also exist.
[email protected]
I've seen a bunch of those! You should be able to find them via browse.feddit.de/
As others have said, anarchy chess is here already as is chatgpt
https://lemmy.world/c/[email protected]
-prisonhooch - fermenting things that really shouldnt have been fermented into alcohol. always a good laugh to see some ridiculous ideas.
-canned fish/seafood enthusiasts
-hot sauce and/or spicy condiments
Me too, though there's no shortage of good info on forums (archery talk forums specifically has a "so you want to get started in archery" guide).
The best advice, though, is to find a local club and ask to go on a beginner course using their equipment ... different regions have different trends, and there's usually a reason!
I found pretty much everything by now. But I'm still missing:
And of course some activity in niche communities, but that will come.
https://lemmy.world/c/askscience
Awesome, thank you!
I need to see my "Imaginary" art again. There were so many subs with so much variety.
Aw yeah! I loved those! My favorite was r/imaginarycyberpunk!
Definitely all the question-answer subreddits, like AskScience, AskScienceFiction (though for the love of god please call it AskFiction this time), NoStupidQuestions, TooAfraidToAsk, ChangeMyView (with the Delta bot), AskMeAnything.
AskReddit equivalent already exists: [email protected].
Miss that :(
I could just go there, see a seemingly stupid question and be amazed by the professionality and detail of the comment section. A bit like XKCD - what if? on endless mode.
@Timwi
@VoidCrow
Askhistorians was the best subreddit. I hope it makes it over here.
m/sinkpissers 😏
I'd love these:
Personally, not a fan of the crypto stuff, but if you're into it, have you looked at monero.house?
I'd love to see one for my state and one for my city, I was surprised they didn't exist
@thx1138 When I saw there wasn't one for my state on Kbin or Lemmy, I made /m/Utah. So maybe you can be the change in the world and make your state one. 😁
Well maintained state / city / town subs are such an incredible resource I absolutely hope to see more pop up
Noncredibledefense of all the subs I'm jonesing for that one the most.
I miss r/rpg_gamers, some game dev subreddits, and like... The emulation/crtgaming/dosgaming type crowd. It's the only reason I still end up checking reddit. But I know it'll take time to grow more communities interested in these
I really miss shitpost crusaders
Honestly I miss tech support subreddits the most. I really enjoyed killing some time scrolling through and seeing who I can help.
The thing is I don't know if that would be as useful here as on somewhere like Reddit because the bar to enter Lemmy and find a tech support page is a little higher.
Still could be useful and I imagine a few ones exist but I've only seen them for specific things like Lemmy so far
Very niche, but I would love to see a (bullet) journaling community on here. it was one of my favourite places to go on reddit. Also miss the fantasy community, but as I understand it, there are a lot of new communities in beta related to favourite authors and such.
Contagiouslaughter, Tooktoomuch, Tookjustenough, popculturechat
A PCcomponents community to replace the separate intel, amd and nvidia subreddits. With the better moderation across lemmy I’m hopeful that it wouldn’t turn into flame wars between brands.
r/gainit and r/gtaonline (I don't play gta anymore, I just stayed for the big community)
I'd like to see something similar to r/bigbangedmemes or r/blackholedmemes, these subs are about editing heavily a meme screenshot/image at the point to turn it into an un-understandable trippy image, at a point where it's almost a form of art. They are still public on reddit right now so I don't know if it's a good idea to create an alternative here already.
Reddit's Reddit. There's no reason to worry about what they do or don't have. If you want to make one, go for it!
Some game specific ones. Like, Satisfactory, Elden Ring. A Boomer Shooter specific magazine/community might be nice. There's a Toronto biking specific subreddit, but not sure threadiverse is big enough to have enough bicyclists from Toronto for it yet
This is posted quite a bit, before all the comments come in, folks please check the community browser to see if it exists before creating one https://browse.feddit.de/
maybe a roblox community or ones aimed towards cetain games and suggestions for games or should i buy (this), also ones to go to when bored or sad.
@VoidCrow
/c/raidshadowlegends is the only interest i have that has not shown ip here yet
CleaningTips
I only found that sub a couple days before the blackout and it was so satisfying and helpful 😭
Also there is a hair magazine but it doesn't seem to be active 🤷♀️
I'm going to miss r/gunpla and my local town and city subreddits. There's a gunpla community on Lemmy, but it's still pretty small, and my town and city communities are definitely still leaving a lot to be desired. I hope I can contribute some, but I really did find a lot of value there I'll be missing
Gundeals. Those dudes need to migrate over here.
A big one I'll miss is the Diablo subreddit. It was filled with contentious assholes, but the content was typically good.
don't tell me you're a Diablo Dad?
How else am I supposed to ignore my children?
r/hockey
a populated c/drugs
A populated aquarium/fishkeeping community
I subbed aquariums, but the ones I really miss are ponds and wildlifeponds..
eli5, changemyview, EnglishLearning

morbidquestions
Just dropping in here to leave a useful resource for you all https://lemmyverse.net/communities
You can set your home instance in the top right and it'll generate direct links for you to avoid all the faffing about with copy pasting.
I'm a refugee from the other site, and I'm a trans guy. I'd love to see an equivalent to r/ftmover30 - it was such a good resource for those of us who are older, dealing with adult problems like jobs, marriages, parenting.
So many internet spaces for trans people skew younger - that's not a bad thing, it's just not always super helpful for people transitioning later in life, or who are just simply dealing with different problems that come from being in a different stage of life. It was really nice to have a niche where I could talk about stuff that the young 'uns just can't relate to.
R/hpmor, r/dresdenfiles, and other fiction based subreddits
I still need to dig around and see what all is here, but Nosleep was my fave sub and I'm really going to miss some of my fave writers I found on there.
Also, some of the funny cat subs, state/city/specific location subs and things to do in those areas, antiwork, eh...my list isn't too long.
VXJunkies, BuyItForLife, most sports communities.
https://lemmy.world/c/[email protected]
https://kbin.social/m/BuyItForLife also
As a lonely lemming I'd like to see the r4r communities find a home.
One for black desert mobile
Okay don't judge me but something like r/fauxmoi and r/BollywoodBlindsNGossip. They're just entertaining.
Also r/longreads, a community for sharing high quality long form articles. I love reading them before bed.
Little heads-up, there's now a longreads community over on https://sh.itjust.works/c/longreads!
Ben 10. I made one but no one has joined. Dresden files, and Fantasy writing.
I would like to see things related to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, DC, or films in general. I would also like a news community, although there might already be one.
https://lemmy.world/c/marvelstudios
https://lemmy.world/c/marvel
https://lemmy.world/c/[email protected]
https://lemmy.world/c/[email protected]
https://lemmy.world/c/[email protected]
Thank you. However, there all so small it is as if they do not exist.
Only way to fix that is to post in them, my friend.
What is the easiest way to subscribe to a community from another instance like the ones you've posted while browsing comments?
I think you could also edit the link to reference your instance and the community's instance appropriately, for example:
https://startrek.website/c/[email protected]
Where startrek.website is your instance and lemmy.world is the community's instance.
Well, I just realized all of the links I posted were specific to my instance. I'm not the expert, but I would probably go to my instance in a browser, click the hamburger menu -> Communities, make sure "All" is selected, and then search for it.
I see people posting links in a few different formats, so I should probably learn those😬.
I just created one for the upcoming DCU films. I really love DC and I hope to see you there, mate!
https://lemmy.world/c/dcstudios
Just subscribed!
Welcome! Glad to have you!
