My wife shared me a meme from that image and I asked her if she knew its origin. Let me tell you, she got really sand and guilty about it.

I don't remember the name but it's a depiction of a cave explorer that got stuck like that and died. While there was help at the place to try and get him out they couldn't. If I remember correctly he's still stuck in that same place.

From the Wikipedia article:

Rescuers concluded that it would be too dangerous to attempt to retrieve his body; the landowner and Jones' family came to an agreement that the cave would be permanently closed, with the body sealed inside, as a memorial to Jones. Explosives were used to collapse the ceiling close to Jones' body, and the entrance hole was filled with concrete to prevent further access.

I recognize the Plato shadows on a wall ref and someone commented about Sisyphus. Obviously, Saddam was in a hole. What's the rest? Looks like pick-axe people are part of a 2d video game. I don't get anything other than what I've described.

The pick-axe is a "motivational" meme about don't giving up, because the diamonds could be just around.

The caption is a reference to "The myth of sisyphus" by Albert Camus. "One must imagine Sisyphus happy". Good book.

The gray silhouette in the hole is a nutty putty cave reference. It's pretty horrifying. Tl;dr version, cave exlorer gets so stuck it's actually impossible to remove him.

Thanks for sharing OP, I hadn't seen the original concept art of Fallout Shelter before.

How long did he lay in that hole? Like was that his whole life at that point? Laying in a hole?
