How did the officials miss that touch by defender and goalkeeper. That was a clear corner.

6

tbf it would've been offside anyway but, the mental boost at least woulda been immense.

lemmy.world

oh damn you can hear our guys in a fucking european stadium that's rare.

6
Astrealixreply
lemmy.world

yeah but you still really shouldn't be hearing away fans in Europe lol that's an indictment on Bayern more than anything.

4

Ngl kinda need us to win this game, I've got a lot of shit to get done today and it'll be easier if it starts off well 🤣

5
lemmy.world

idk why people seem to be nervous about that gabi defending lol, it was pretty clean from my perspective.

I wasn't nervous about the defending, but it looked like he went to play it back to Raya who had made a run out. Which could have been bad if it was more towards goal

1

Reminded me about the Saliba own goal thing a bit but I was like "nah this is Gabi he's passed it behind"

1

This game is really reminding me how fucking good that Bayer Leverkusen side is rn. Like Bayern aren't quite at their normal levels yes but they're still a very good side.

5

I just love seeing Rice drive forward, pull a bunch of players then slide a diagonal ball so we can move forward.

The game is opening up. Maybe good for us.

5
lemmy.world

I think Trossard deserves to start, but whether it's tactics or teamp setup, he seems to do better coming off the bench going at a tired defence.

5

Looks like Kai was instructed to stay up front and not do any of that false nine stuff

4

Always too soon, especially if it has the effect we're worried about. But that's for a different day :D

1
lemmy.world

it's always fun going to Europe and hearing a bunch of chants in another language that sound just like "huy huy huy" cuz you don't understand it

4

I think they were definitely chanting Havertz over and over again because of his role for the German national team

1

Surprised Bayern got the first yellow, ref has been blowing the whistle everytime we touch a Bayern player.

4
lemmy.world

I know it doesn't look good, but I didn't see us doing as well as we have in the CL this season, which is a pretty good positive.

I expected this to be a tough game.

4
Astrealixreply
lemmy.world

I assumed this would be a blow out. I'm still kinda happy with this tbh.

2
lemmy.world

The commentators continually beat the drum of "Arsenal and set pieces", but I can't actually recall us scoring off of a set piece in the CL yet.

4

I don't know, but I feel like this ref deserves a job in the PL

2

This isn't great... if they don't get cards Odegaard is going to get pinballed around until he's forced off

3

There should be statistical analyses done on how it's possible for a foul to be called against us in the box pretty much every time we have a set piece

3
Astrealixreply
lemmy.world

they literally just mentioned how he's only scored 1 in the last 10 games lol

3
Astrealixreply
lemmy.world

I know in part it's cause of the system but he could still do better lol

3

Agreed, but it could also not be what Arteta wants him to do? I don't know... it's kinda sad though he's not as impactful as last season.

1

Well, each time a shit decision like that goes against us, we lose 2 minutes of the game. So it makes perfect sense why they'd do it like this.

3

Also looking forward to there being like 3 minutes of added on time, despite Bayern wasting about 10 in the past 15 minutes alone

2
lemmy.world

Tomiyasu has not been great today. Not that many fullbacks will be good against Sane tbf.

Are there no rules as to which half of the pitch is watered in HT?

Apparently only our final third is being watered rn

3

I don't think there are specific rules behind the watering in general. I could be wrong?

1

Good attempt from Ødegaard that. Neuer should be saving that better though shouldn't he.

3

Red card to Declan for kicking the ball after the flag went up.

If you know you know

3

wearing my mccabe away kit today btw, wonder if it can transfer the energy from our win against Bristol City to this game XD

3

In retrospect, it makes perfect sense. Narrative says Arsenal are good at set pieces, so we just make it as hard as possible for them to score from set pieces. Brilliant.

3

Dang I think my stream is like a minute behind. So I will see all your groans or screams of Raya if we score. Lol

3

I honestly don't love that we've been as reliant on him in the CL, but if anyone can pull something out of the hat it's him

3
lemmy.world

Reffing in this game hasn't been that good in my opinion

2

Very Attacking. Substituing on all the attackers. Arteta plays this like I do FM

2

Gabriel and Saliba look like they have improved from last week. We just needed a couple more people to do the same.

2
lemmy.world

it's weird watching us be the team sitting back and letting things happen more

2
Nuggsyreply
lemmy.world

Shot on goal hot the post. It wasn't as bad as the one's against Villa, but still a chance for Bayern

4
Astrealixreply
lemmy.world

hit twice i think? at least that's what the commentary said

3
Nuggsyreply
lemmy.world

I must have missed that. I looked away and just caught it on the replay

3

Looking better again. Very much comes and gos in who's dominant in this game. Very tough opposition.

2

I don't mind that one tbh, I mind the one that didn't got given when we tried to counter lol

1

When was the last time we won an aerial duel in the final third? Seems just yesterday everyone was excited about Havertz' and Jesus' jumping abilities

1

Same old Arsenal. We take 5 years to progress 5 meters up the pitch, and as soon as Bayern get it they're in our box. Fucking pathetic.

1
lemmy.world

Who do you put in if Øde needs to be subbed off now?

1
Nuggsyreply
lemmy.world

Same, I don't think we really have anybody else who is a closer replacement

1

He came off early against Villa because of an apparent knock. I wonder if he's still playing with it.

Or maybe he was tired and they used that as the official reason

1
lemmyis.fun

I can't think of any possible subs.

If you say Tross I wanna know why

-1

I can't give you any sound statistical reasoning, I'm not that knowledgeable. But, from past occasions, I feel like he gives us fresh legs, he has an eye for goal and can make runs into the box/get into good positions.

2

Assanal failed to build up through the press and are now letting Bayern have the ball
