FWIW, there actually are safety nets set up around evictions with assisted living and nursing homes. It's actually one of the reasons those places are so expensive (mainly they want to bleed people dry before they go broke). "Independent living" places are for people who don't require medical assistance or constant nursing care. I don't think they're any more regulated than any other apartment.

This is especially true if they've been on benefits all their lives. Care homes cost in excess of £1500 a week, how can you expect someone who's been on benefits most of their life to have saved enough to cover even a few months of that kind of expense?
