Totality in upstate NY
We were in upstate NY, and got extremely lucky with a hole in the clouds right around the sun at totality.
The red at the bottom was unexpected and very cool to see. It's a solar prominence

We were in Altmar, so kinda close.
The clouds parted just in time for us for totality as well! Talk about lucky, eh?
Back in the day, somewhere in the 90ies my dad took us children and drove 3 hours to Munich - and we went somewhere close to the airport so we could oversee the whole airport - to see the solar eclipse.
I remember it was so cool, the airport had to turn on the lights on the runways so the airplanes could still operate :D
