Spyke

Just North Korean doing North Korean things.

One of these days he is going to hit something during one of his little tirades. Reminds me of a kid who needs attention every few months.

25

I don't understand his thinking. The US and other major countries fire off missiles just to shoot them down as target practice all the time. Not to mention that attacking a UN country would be suicide.

That was my first thought too. Must be time for more food drops.

Aww, Porky and Pooh are next-door neighbors. Wait, maybe Kim should be Piglet?

Pyongyang's launch comes after it threatened retaliation against what it said were recent US spy plane incursions over its territory

It also tried to launch a spy satellite in May which failed.

This is why I can't take them seriously 🙄

I don’t really understand how North Korea continues to exist. I guess they aren’t sanctioned hard enough? I guess it’s hard to get in spies? I guess it’s hard to remove Kim? They seem so weak, but they keep slowly developing into some weird sort of threat.

1

They’re kept afloat by China, basically. Chaos in NK has the potential to spill over the Yalu and cause problems in China.Plus, Seoul is within artillery range of the DMZ, so any “kinetic” end to the regime is quite risky.

15

N.Korea is essentially used as slave labour by China, and is propped up by them in return.

3

Look up "bureau 39". They have installed a nice cash flow institute, that goes around the sanctions.

1

I don't understand what his endgame is. If one of these remarkably hits US territory, how does he hope to win?

1

The sanctions on the DPRK are enough of a crime and yet the collective west still pushes the country to see how far they can go with bullying them. The sanctions ought to end now, so that the people of the DPRK get access to resources they need most for a better life. But the constant scare mongering just continues, as the small nation struggles for it's right to exist against the genocidal American regime.

::: spoiler spoiler Yes yes, stonetoss edit, he's a nazi, we all know that. Fuck him, just enjoy the edit. :::

It's an absolutist monarchy with communist aesthetics.

So the current guy in charge was not elected in a free election, and is the son of the last guy. And the last guy was the same thing... 🤔

Tell me again what system is this?

Again: not American, that's not a burn mate.

You're also comparing a country with a flawed democracy with a country with no democracy at all.

You're either a retard, a troll, or the dear leader is making you work really hard for those food rations.

0

You're literally listing powerful American families and comparing them with a country with an enforced direct lineage from father to son. In case you're not aware, this is called monarchy.

Tell me: was Biden Obama's son, and Obama Bush's son?

The American political system might be highly flawed, but at least they are not sending the family of the ones who dare to leave to prison camps.

And if you say that North Korea does not do that, then you have fallen for North Korean propaganda.

0

What I don't understand is the "and humanize the people of the DPRK." line. Who is dehumanizing North Koreans, exactly? This is about their government. Regardless of how the government achieves this, be it coercion or brainwashing, you can still see them as people, ya'kno?

can a government simply organize that level of popular participation without the actual support of the people?

Umm, yes?

all it requires is some good old fashioned US bombers to tip things in the “peoples” favor? For a liberal this makes perfect sense.

No, it doesn't lol Liberalism isn't synonymous with 'Murica. I know, huge shocker.

That's some grade-A tankie shitposting, though. 👏

How is this basically not a monarchy?

Adams Roosevelt Kennedy Clinton Bush

But ya, go off king. family dynasties are unique to the DPRK

Nice whataboutism you got there.

I'm not American, so I that's not a burn, in case you were trying.

Tell me, were those in power for decades, and then passed on their direct rule to their son without an election?

Did they also create legends about themselves? Really absurd stuff like they don't need to poop?

1

Oh, so you actually believe that elections are free in Korea?

Please tell me more.

Do you also believe that power does not corrupt, and that Santa is real?

0

Yes. They literally have their first leader as the 'eternal president' and worship him like a god.

I am a BRAZILIAN socialist, but DPRK is a totalitarian dictatorship that isn't truly socialist and have serius problem with starvation and stuff so they aren't really good at all.

The real socialism is the Democratic Socialism.

The real socialism is the Democratic Socialism.

Democratic Socialism is objectively the moderate wing of fascism

I am a BRAZILIAN socialist.

Democratic socialism is nearer to anarcho communism than those far right wingers.

Also you want me to prove I'm Brazilian!? How am I supposed to do that?

2

Democratic socialism is nearer to anarcho communism than those far right wingers.

The argument in the source, as I understand it, is that democratic socialism doesn't firmly oppose fascism with force, so tacitly allows it to develop.

Also you want me to prove I'm Brazilian!? How am I supposed to do that?

Naw, I just thought it was funny to write. You're welcome to ignore that.

You still haven't sourced your claims on the DPRK, though.

-1

The most important claim I think he made was that north koreans are starving.

Why are they wasting so much money on their military if they can't feed their population? Who are they even fighting?

Why does Kim's family still get to live a lavish lifestyle?

All these things make it a shitty place to be, regardless of how it's governed.

NK would be better off if they didn't waste so many resources on their nuclear program and 'important' families.

Blaming sanctions doesn't really make sense when NK clearly isn't trying to solve the problem themselves. They're trying to hold the world hostage.

3
lemmygrad.ml

The nuclear weapons are the only thing stopping the U$ from murdering 20% of their population and razing 80% of their buildings. Again.

The sanctions are meant to torture the civilians. It's siege warfare.

No they aren't. The US isn't invading North Korea because they have no reason to.

It would just be a mindless slaughter with no real gain.

1
lemmy.ml

Please read about the Korean War and the US's fascist pursuit against Communist/Socialist countries. The US has specific policies about stamping out Communism, with devastating consequences for those countries.

0

Please tell me specifically what you think I should know and add sources if you can find them.

Saying "just look it up bro" isn't conducive to discussion and just tells me you're not confident in your argument.

3

The U$ still militarily occupies Korea.

It would just be a mindless slaughter with no real gain.

That's not guaranteed. The U$ did not win the Korean war.

I thought even with sanctions NK would have access to the resources they need for a better life... if they didn't waste so many resources on nukes.
