I have worked at several very shitty TV stations. The least shitty was least shitty due to the station having a dog that liked to walk around and hang out with you. He would scratch to come into my office, sit there with me for about 10 minutes, then ask to be let out and go hang out with someone else.

The rest of the job sucked, especially my abusive boss, but I miss that dog.

Kind of wild that anyone could be abusive when they have a dog visiting them regularly. Was their heart made of stone?

My immediate boss wasn't the station manager. Also, the dog technically was there as a 'co-host' of the local afternoon "let's never cover anything important ever" talk show. But since that was a half-hour show and all the dog had to do was sit there...

So he had to spend all day "working" even though he only really did a half hour of real work every day? Sounds like my job!

And he got loved on all day long!

EDIT: I should also say that he wasn't left alone at the station overnight. The receptionist sort of adopted him and he came in and left with her every day.

They are clearly labelled as a volunteer. I bet they only get paid in treats and I guarantee they need more belly rubs

Having watched the video I would like to retract my previous statement 😰

Serious question... are volunteers "hired" or is there a different word that applies to allowing people to donate their time at a business without the expectation of payment? In this case it's a dog so it doesn't really matter either way but I'm curious.

They usually go through a program that’s part of the hospital that works with their placement and qualifications for that they’re able to do. So, no- they’re not “hired.”

They’re technically not employees of the hospital, but more- members of a program run by the hospital.

Most do this to help and don’t expect payment.

Source: Worked at a large hospital network in central Florida that utilized volunteers for over a decade.

Technically you can only volunteer at a non profit organization, if a company wants to do that it's called an unpaid internship.

Where do they allow dogs in hospital? Are we talking regular hospitals?

The Wexner medical center, probably for specific dates/times etc. But I've been to multiple doctors that have dogs full time.

This particular dog appears to be attached to the "Ohio State University [something] Medical Center", according to what I can make out at the top of that badge.
