I've been a Redditor for 12+ years, but I will definitely keep hanging out here and I'll keep being active. The community here right now reminds me a lot of the good things of early Reddit, and I like that.

I became a Redditor during the Digg exodus... Now I'll become a Lemming during the Reddit exodus.

It breaks my heart to dump 15 years of Reddit, but yes, I'm staying.

I knew this would happen sooner or later, because every good company eventually put their bottom lines ahead of their users.

Staying here. Rediscovered what I liked about Reddit in the earlier days - actually engaging. I don't think I've commented, posted, or even upvoted on reddit in like a year. It just seemed pointless and it was just a scroll and read machine. This is much more fun

Definitely here to stay. Even deleted app from my phone and put a bookmark to lemmy where the app used to be. Now I access lemmy as much as I used to Reddit purely because of muscle memory / force of habit and don’t miss Reddit one bit.

I didn't come here because of the blackout though, I came here in protest; going back to Reddit while they haven't changed their policy wouldn't be helpful.

I will personally stay here. My engagment with Reddit consisted of lurking around with occasional upvoting of posts. I might still check Reddit from time to time via web browser, though I'm not gonna bother with the official app. On Lemmy I feel like actually engaging with other users and communities.

After the blackout, who knows, but once they paywall the third party apps I'm betting Spez and his "snoos" are going to feel it a lot more than a silly little 2-day blackout. For many, myself included, the official reddit app is not an option whatsoever.

I'm in the same boat as you, account deleted and all. Personally, I was never really that active on Reddit but I've enjoyed Lemmy and the positive community feel. So for me, I won't be going back since I actually enjoy using this platform. My only fear is that others will jump back to Reddit eventually and these communities may go quiet. I guess we'll see.

Thanks to the blackout I got to know about lemmy. Otherwise may never have tried this. Now I know , it might be hard to go back. If my favourite subreddits end up here or have their own instances, it will be great. But even if they don't , I am done with reddit. The quality of comments in reddit has been in the downward direction for a long time now. I remember when I stopped using digg. It was upgraded to mongo db and nothing was available for a while. That was when I went to reddit and forgot about digg completely. Reddit blackout is when I joined lemmy.world and forgot about reddit 😂

I am done with Reddit and have deleted my account. Even if I don't cause an impact as a single person, I am happy that u/spez has lost a user.

I just joined out of curiosity and I'm rather baffled by how barely any of the reddit forums decided to migrate here or anywhere else, even if just symbolically.

I tried lemmy a little, there's not much content yet. It really depends on if the major power users migrate to lemmy, and on which instance they will migrate. The other problem being that I have yet to find a good mobile app to access the lemmy instances, and I'm too lazy to make my own (though it would be a good side hustle in my opinion).

The enshittification of Reddit is inevitable and seems to be accelerating lately. Been looking for a reason to ditch reddit and dive into federated platforms and such so yeah, well timed for me.

I deleted my Reddit account, so I'll stay here. Fediverse to me is how the internet should be, not owned by a corporation, I hope services like Lemmy and Mastodon get more popular.

I like to think we are building for the future here.

Like the subreddits on indefinite blackout, I have no intention of going back until Reddit deals more equitably with mods and third-party app devs, which means I might never go back. That's sad but okay.

My relationship with it has irrevocably changed. It was foolish of me to let myself become dependent on any community administered by capitalists, because their goals and values are going to inherently be different than mine. Once their focus shifts from "make this community popular" to "make this community profitable," our goals are never going to realign, so it's better to start over in a place where simply building community is the goal.

Reddit has been the third party apps for me for years, so shutting those down means I’m gone for good.

I like Lemmy. I think I'll stay here, and I'll wipe my Reddit account soon. It feels strange, but Reddit also feels super hostile now.

Don't forget that until the end of this month that reddit will change a lot of stuff. I won't be surprised that new lemmy users will migrate here on July 1.

I'll be staying but I'll still use Reddit on the desktop as I still do need it for a few things. I'll certainly contribute to L.W's communities though. I suspect when they finally shoot old.reddit in the face is when the overall mass exodus will occur if a better platform isn't out by then.

At this point I am not interested in going back.. the way they have treated the community they can suck it. I think some people that have not "migrated" platforms before may feel uneasy but this place feels pretty familiar. We just have to give it some time.

I'm looking for something to fill the void. The enshittification of reddit isn't going to stop any time soon, just the nature of chasing quarterly profits. I plan to keep my account though. There are some really valuable communities there, and cutting ties completely feels like it would be spiting the nose off my face. r/home improvement has helped me on so many occasions, for example. I am hopeful that lemmy can grow to be the spiritual successor of reddit though!

I plan to stay unless Reddit makes their third-party terms a lot more reasonable. The way these API access fees were announced on such a short timeline and the fact they are so high does not make me want to support Reddit any longer by participating in it. I've got 249,000 post karma there.

I'll stay. I've been looking for a reason to move off reddit for a long time. But there didn't seem to be a non political based exodus, until now. The TD stuff and voat seemed too political charged and only people of a certain political leaning left. As a result voat and the others were just all about American politics. This feels much more across the board, and so far I'm loving the Lemmy community.

I'll be staying for sure and use it as my main, but I will still visit Reddit just for my cute kitty video fix.

One thing about Reddit that has the edge over Lemmy is the ease of posting/watching videos. Though, I totally get why it's not as feasible on here.

I'm not using reddit again unless to lurk some info here and there if it is needed to find information I couldn't find on lemmy. I won't participate in the Reddit community anymore even if reddit is backing down. The federated philosophy is just much more alligned with my values. If anything, this whole blackout situation accelerated my innevitable switch.

Reddit fucked up pretty good. Not only they shot themselves in the foot by scraping 3rd party devs (and ofc the userbase attached to it), but also pissed the mods (which are making slave labor for free) so bad, that if they leave, the site pretty much becomes the Wild Wild West of spam and scams, which, if you acknowledge the piece of shit app they made, will at worst hurt and make them look so bad to their investors, which hopefully will trigger a domino effect which will ultimately lead to its demise

I would really like to stay here, but I mostly used reddit on my phone and I've found the mobile experience so underwhelming that I have already given up on it. The MLem app crashes on me after ~60 seconds every time I try to use it, too.

If we could entice the developer of Apollo or RIF or Sync or any of the big platforms to make a really slick app for Lemmy, I might never go back to Reddit.

Lemmy is promising, and I'm here to stay. I haven't nuked my account on Reddit yet. But as others have said, I don't plan on posting much there anymore. Unfortunately, I'm going to be slightly tethered to wherever the smaller, more niche communities that I like end up.

I share the same fear, but I plan to stay I really enjoy lemmy, more than I have reddit in the last year or so. The atmosphere is great, and I feel more of a connection with the people and the community.

I'm mostly a lurker, but certainly plan to stay. I probably will use Reddit occasionally, but that usage will be significantly reduced and limited to desktop use only as I have no interest in installing the official Reddit app. Too many web searches lead back to Reddit posts for me to drop Reddit completely.

I'll be staying. Lemmy does what I used Reddit for fine enough, which is aggregate news links about various topics I'm interested in and provide a platform to discuss said topics with like minded people. The community is smaller, nicer, more personable too. Overall I'm enjoying it a lot. Some glitches and bugs to work out but nothing platform breaking. Can't wait to see how Lemmy progresses along! And Kbin, I made an account there today and have been checking it out too. I like Lemmy's UI a bit more, while Kbin has a lot of cool features Lemmy doesn't. We'll see how it shapes out but I'll be here for the ride.

I think I'll stick around. I never posted or commented on reddit before so there's really nothing for me there aside from the small communities I follow. All of which have a decent discord presence now. So anything related to news in those circles I can keep up with there. I am hoping more will move away from reddit after the blackout so we will see.

There wasn't much to Reddit when it first started. Users built it over the years, including myself. I'd love to see Lemmy do the same, but it'll take work and commitment. Should it happen to become as large, I do wonder if it will eventually face the same woes as Reddit.

I am not expecting the blackout to be over to be fair. Reddit is not backing down. While I will miss it, I am prepared to use only Lemmy for quite some time perhaps even indefinitely. And it's not difficult in fact.

I was one of those weird Redditors that liked to browse "all" as almost every subreddit offered some interesting posts for me. Because of it I am not too worried about staying only at Lemmy as most conversations or post peak my interest.

Now that I've managed to hook up Mastadon to here and pull tweets from twitter, I think i'm pretty firmly here rather than there. There's one community I'll be sad to not interact with on the regular, but I'll manage.

I haven't deleted my reddit account and I'm not sure if I'm going to, but I do not plan on going back or logging back in. Many times I've googled some obscure thing and the only solution to my problem was a 10 year old reddit post. With everyone deleting their accounts all those posts will change to [deleted] and I think that's sad. I've never posted anything that I think would help anyone, but I'm torn between letting my account stay up in the spirit of that and deleting it because fuck reddit.

Lemmy is one of the sites that I'm checking out to try and replace Reddit. Unfortunately, so far, I can't find a replacement for my porn needs, but I think that'll help resolve a bigger problem I have.

There are some things I miss about reddit, I just noticed spoiler tags don't seem to work (at least on Jerboa), and sometimes the image display is way too small. That being said, I'll be sticking around here more because I genuinely think it can be better than reddit in the long run if it picks up enough steam.

Definitely won't be deleting my reddit though, as I'd like to believe some of my comments/posts were actually helpful for niche questions. As an example, A few weeks ago my several-year-old post got a comment describing a solution for my 2012 HP server that wasn't detecting more than 1 core in Proxmox (a server OS). Regardless of how bad reddit is, it saved me in weird problems like that multiple times, so I'm personally against giving up all of that information just for the sake of protest.

I won't be participating anymore. There's just too much information there right now and there are some subs i follow that probably won't migrate here.

Also the blackout is just the tip of the iceberg, being forced to use a shitty app because they won't let third parties in, lack of trust and the push for further monetization=advertising will push reddit into an unusable YouTube forum clone.

Planning on sticking around! I'm losing RiF and Jerboa seems to work well enough; hopefully it continues to improve as the platform continues to get more popular. I'll likely still check on Reddit for certain communities as they develop here, but otherwise I'm digging Lemmy and would love to see it grow!

I might use reddit on my PC but will never use it on my other devices after June 30th. If the Reddit Enhancement Suite gets ruined I will ditch it completely for Lemmy.

If reddit gives in enough to make things viable going forward... I would still rather find another place to read and discuss. I haven't cut all ties with reddit and I may end up using it some in the future, but its days of being my main internet destination are over.

It feels weird honestly as my usage of Reddit didn't really have me thinking about how Reddit was run. Understanding what's wrong with it now though, I see the need to have a proper alternative to it that's actually community-driven. While I wish for better synergy in this platform (which might come in one form or another), this does give me the feeling of the old IRC days somewhat where there would be one server and an infinite amount of chats to join.

This place feel so much better. The only downside is the user base isn't here yet. Let's hope many more people move over.

16 years... I have several custom feeds that I will lurk when im on my pc, but I think I'm done posting there. Lemmy will hopefully grow to replace it for me.

I am liking my experience so far. I did a decade on Reddit and feel like I got the full experience (including moderating a subreddit big enough to have front page problems). I was already a bit tired of it when I got called a Nazi like 30 times for posting on a specific subreddit a few times. This new enshittification kinda clenched that I want to move to a different place. Not sure if it’s Lemmy or not, but I’m trying it.

I will probably use both reddit and lemmy. But as long as I can't use a third party app for reddit, I will use it a lot less. And the better lemmy gets, the more I will use it vs reddit.

there are still a few communities on reddit that lemmy doesn't have (yet), so ill still probably check in on them, but I wont be spending hours doomscrolling there.

I'll bounce back and forth. There's still some specialized communities I'm part of on reddit that aren't represented here. Still, I lean Lemmy going forward.
