Seemed a rather slick and moderate to high effort production for at least the first episode.

Wasn't too much of a hook I felt, but I keep hearing the source material is solid so will keep following this for now

Yeah, major issue for me is the dialogue It feels too stiff and that’s off putting I think this is gonna be a check back later and see if the hype is still alive

Reason for the lack of a hook is that they skipped a flash-forward scene that the original first volume of the light novel starts off with. Makes sense in a visual medium to do so, but it can leave people wanting.

That was boring. I'll try another couple of episodes, but this is looking like a drop so far.

Very promising first episode. A fantasy story without isekai, no overpowered MC so far, feels more like Harry Potter than anime.
