I see there's a section for it in the inbox, but I haven't gotten one yet so I'm not sure if it works. Does it only work in the local instance or across the fediverse? Is it only for comments, or does it include posts as well?

It also works without the link, juat the name is enough.
FYI that’s true but it’s also a special case because this community is on their home server (like a relative link). So it’s probably easiest for folks in general to use the fully qualified mention (an absolute link).
I meant without literal link, like you just write the name as a texr, you still need to include the domain (as far as I know).

Mentions don’t work for me. A person mentioned me in a post and never got the notification. I only noticed because I saw the post on my front page.

Yes. Although a situation occurred and I believe Linus is mad at me after I fubar'd a superchat.

No, I had mistyped a superchat and it made me come off as more of an attention(?) whore than I really am.
I had been dealing with moving to a new place and hadn't been able to catch the live show for a while. I was messing around trying to get the message short enough and left off "in a while" and the chat came off as if it was my first time catching WAN.
I died inside that day, although I still contribute to news topics for WAN/TechLinked via their forums when I find something interesting.
I think I actually kinda remember that? I remember it coming off as a joke
