For a second I thought this was going to be about some sort of train linrunning from London to New York lol
A tunnel. Only for bicycles and pedestrians.
Spending weeks cycling through a tunnel would be a mind bending experience. I would totally do it.
Well that would be much more efficient than driving from one to the other...

Just had to pick up enough speed to jump the gap from either direction.
