Kegels are a legit exercise to work on if you have terrible pelvic floor muscles. I had to get intense PT for my pelvic floor a few years ago. I still have to do daily exercises so I don't get muscle pain and weakness. It sucks.

Make sure your using correct form! relaxing the muscle completely after clenching is also important.

Hypertonic pelvic floor disorders can lead to many of the same symptoms as a weak pelvic floor.
