Both that link and the second sample one crash the app for me

The first is a link to someone else's comment that contains the broken link. Does the link there cause a crash? It still does on my end.

So the [url]() syntax is the problem. I would say that's illegal markdown.

Yes, but Boost should show an error toast when it encounters problems like this instead of crashing. Tapping the broken link already does show a toast.
