You didn't mess up, she did. I'm sorry the rest of your school time wasn't as fun as it should've been. No one should take away your freedom to feel comfortable talking and joking with other people.

Please do your best to realize that that happened in high school, don't bring those feelings of "I can't be friendly with girls" into your adulthood. Most girls want guy friends just as much as they want girl friends. Don't let this one person ruin something that can bring you more happiness.
