From an evolutionary point of view it makes sense since shiting and pissing would take a while and would leave and would leave the animal vulnerable to attack. Since shitting would take longer than pissing anyway it makes more sense to shit and piss at the same time and be done with both while you're at it. On the other hand since pissing is much faster if would make sense to keep it short and piss quickly without shitting.
