Happy I had to fire one less person today
I work in HR and recently we have been laying off under performing developers. Needless to say it’s not easy to tell someone they no longer have a job.
Anyway there was this one guy who I was to give the bad news. Fortunately before I could even summon him, he came to me to offer me his letter of resignation.
He explained to me that he was not cut out for this job and he had been planning on leaving for a while. He joint right after college but had really no interest. His dad had apparently got him the job through some connection but he had no interest in it . I praise his self awareness, a lot of people work as if they are entitled to a job. I respect that he knew he wasn’t offering the value that was expected of him and owned up for his shortcomings.
Happy I didn’t have to be the bearer of bad news, at least this one time.

Im so glad im no longer in a position to fire someone. It was always difficult. I cant handle other people emotions, if they start to tear up i gotta end it cause i will too.
As someone who had to fire a perfectly capable and productive man. It was for failing a drug test (weed). And just a few years later it was legalized.
Leaving thay job was the best thing Ive done career wise. Being the executionor takes its toll over time trust me.
