I’m not From a U.S. perspective most people use the official app, are used to seeing ads and consider them the price you pay for “free” use, and are just plain selfish/lazy. From their perspective, this doesn’t affect them, so why should they care? Alternatively, they don’t really understand what the big deal is, and don’t want to put any effort towards understanding it.
